Thanks for your thoughts! I appreciate the time you took to write.

Yeah, I own them on Steam and have played a bit... but watched much more on YouTube.

I do agree... the remakes are a strange mash-up of old and new design, but moreso IMHO suffer from a lack of consistent art direction. Where many of the mechanics have been translated well (IMO), the presentation lacks any personality or artistic beauty (which the originals certainly displayed) while displaying a decided lack of polish (low budget). Still, if you play mainly for mechanics -- and enjoy The Dark Eye rule set -- I think there's still some fun to be hand... although I would say the originals are better overall games.

I do wish Crafty would finish the trilogy. I emailed them awhile back on the subject but never got a reply. Sales probably kept them from finishing.

kai2: Have you played Warhammer Quest II? Keep getting tempted by that game.

Radiance1979: heh, if this corona thing lasts for another couple of months i'm sure in a couple of weeks i can tell ya everything to know 'bout Warhammer Quest II, maybe you can dl if for your phone and try it out free? I belief the first one is free. After spending countless hours on battlevoid harbinger or royal heroes you won't ever hear me talking 'bout lame free phone games anymore!
Yeah, had a time where I was looking at all video game iterations and "spawn" of Hero Quest. And with that said, I'm sorry but I have to post...

kai2: I've never played it... but just watched almost an hour of it on YouTube. Wow, I'm impressed by the artwork, animations, and style

StingingVelvet: Yeah it's like the Lucasarts adventure games, the art, music and design really hold up despite the old graphics. Worth playing today if you like blobbers.
Yeah, the only thing that holds me back from most older blobbers is turning in dungeons. I get disoriented so quickly -- and have to rely so heavily on maps for almost every movement -- that my experience suffers. Once blobbers moved to true 3D engines, I get along with them much more... but...

Yes -- even with my "issues" -- Lands of Lore looks like a GREAT game. Will certainly pick it up at some point.

Yes! Have the choose-your-own-adventure book. Would love to see Firetop Mountain here on GOG.

BTW...

If you like the board game aesthetic of Warlock of Firetop Mountain, you might check out Wartile.
