Finished watching 素敵な選TAXI

...currently watching 잉여공주

Sometimes I´m not so convinced by the synopsis, but I found really good ones just by random watching.

TNG was amazing. WAY better than it had any right to be. Inner Light is one of the best episodes ever on television. Best of both worlds was also a great two-parter. And the scenes between Patrick Stewart and David Warner in Chain of Command were oscar worthy. Dammit, that show was great.

I would promptly put away my school tunic and backpack when I arrived home to watch "Duck Tales" and afterwards "Star Trek" :P

Very true. There was also Darmok, my personal favourite. I think that episode pretty much defines what is best about Star Trek. Most Toys was also great. So many fantastic episodes, if I were to name them all I'd end up writing down most of the series really.

Breja: I implore everyone watching, or about to start, House of Cards- watch the british original. See it first if you can. It's superb, and it would be a great pity if the american remake overshadows it completely.
That is my plan, but only after I finish season 3 because I'm afraid that I will be spoiled by that one.

I was too much of a kid (or nah, I was a pleb with no taste back then) to watch TNG, but my older brother was very much into the show. I only remembered, when it was still airing, that I liked Data since he was the robot. But now going back through it, this is really becoming one of my favorite shows. I'm having a blast watching them. That Darkmok/Picard episode is incredible.

And I'm still trying to decide who my favorite is between Crusher and Troi...

No offense, but I realy dislike that kind of backwards thinking- "I don't want to be spoiled by the original". It's the freaking orignal! You've got it completely ass-backwards. Then again, better late than never I guess :)

You know, I would also be in the same boat like you( hell, I don't think I would even watch it) if it wasn't for Kevin Spacey. He makes the show a lot more great than it's supposed to be. Also, wouldn't the british one be different than the american one? I've never seen an british series, or american one being like the original.

Kevin Spacey is a great actor, but I assure you, the great late Ian Richardson is utterly superb and unequaled as Francis Urquhart. And the british show really is great, as in "truly great drama" not just "great=lot's of fun".

I imagine it is. I'm not following the amercian House of Cards, firstly just beacuse I don't much like unnecessary remakes, and secondly I decided to wait for it to wrap up first, and hear if it makes a sensible story as a whole. The british original is actually three short mini-series, which is it's great strenght- each one is tightly plotted and planned from beginning to end. When I heard the american version is going in a normal season-by-season format I lost what faith in it I had. It really is almost impossible to retain that level of intricate storytelling if you also have to worry about your show being renewed for another season, and sometimes about stretching it for more seasons then you should. I mean, the american series is already probably three times as long as the original, maybe more.

Of course there are also bound to be some major changes due to the american setting- the second british mini-series dealt with the conflict between Urquhart and the new King, which would be rather hard ro replicate in the US :D

I like Enterprise. It's not nearly as good as TOS, TNG or DS9, but I still really like it. The first to seasons are very uneven however. Some great episodes, mostly dealing with Vulcans and Andorians (really great to see a classic but underused race get some time in the spotlight, and Jeffrey Combs as Shran is awesome), some weak ones.

The show gets much more even (in a good way) in season 3, which has it's own almost separate story-arc, and season 4 which finally deals properly with setting up creation of the Federation really is in my opinion one of the strongest season in all of Trek, not a weak episode in that one (except maybe the finale, but that was kind of forced by the premature cancellation). A pity it got cancelled when it was at it's best.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with it then, cheers! :)
