I just finished The Deptford Trilogy by Robertson Davies. Took me a while but quality stuff.

Finished Gateway by Frederick Pohl. First novel of his I've read. Good stuff. I'll be checking out other works by him.

Currently, I just began my project to read John le Carré's bibliography. Starting with his first, Call for the Dead .

fwiw - H.G. Wells _The Time Machine_ is really good - one of my favorite SciFi stories (if you like The Invisible Man you might give The Time Machine a try if you haven't already.)

Yeah - I actually got a bit depressed about it because nobody wants to force themselves to finish a book, but For Whom the Bell Tolls - you could see it coming and it seemed like the story just stayed motionless and contemplative for a large portion of the book - just marking time until the finale. The themes of the book were solid - it just took too long to get there. Alot of folks really like it though - say it's his best - so maybe the failing is in me.

That's nice mate! Oh my when this country used to get exchange students, there is NO way that's happening now believe me hehe.

Venezuela is an excellent country to visit... back in the day of course, it still has incredible beaches, the Angel Falls in the Gran Sabana region, Los Roques, the Sierra Nevada of Mérida and so much more, but today's crime statistics in my country are enough to keep any visitor away from here for good. :=|

And I had a wonderful time! It was amazing!
I spent the first six months in a small village in Sur del Lago (with several trips to Mérida) and the other five months in a town in Aragua.
I travelled to the Gran Sabana (it's breathtakingly beautiful!), the Orinoco Delta, the rain forest and some other places.

I really want to visit Venezuela again and it show it to my husband and my son. You could say that I lost a part of my heart to your country.

Editt: AFS (American Field Service) still offers Student Exchange with Venezuela, at least for German students.

Weird situation that has never happened to me before. I'm enjoying it so much I don't want to keep reading it as either:

a) It will all go downhill and I'll end up hating it.

b) It will continue to be brilliant and then it will end and I'll be sad.

I have decided that I'm an odd chap.

Im with you! It is like watching Battlestar Galactica, Lost or some Movies to the end. They start promissing but the end is so bad and out of place that you wish you never watched this in the first place.

This happened to me when i read the Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy part 5..i wish i never read to the end....

But...your own curiosity will grow day by day and then you will read it! You can't stop it :b

On Topic: Iam now reading Stanislaw Lem - the discovery of virtuality. I hope i will make it through this time...

Finally read I Am Legend by Richard Matheson in this horribly-covered version. 5/5, the 2007 film with the same name is a stinky piece of poop.

I've just finished reading a borrowed copy of Frederic Bastiat's The Law. It was a nice read and easily understandable and I found parts of it quite prophetic.

I LOVED the short story. It was one of the best vampire stories ever.

Were there chapter breaks? I don't remember. I guess it just seemed really short to me.

Going through Vonnegut again. At the time: Galapagos (good one).

The library finally got Richard Kadrey's new book - Kill City Blues - so I'll start that tonight.
