That's one of my favorite fantasy novels. Really moody and dark, just like the faerie stories of old. I think it's beautifully written.


I'm reading The Afterlives by Thomas Pierce. Interesting novel about a man who had an unremarkable near-death experience and goes searching for answers to the question of life after death.

Excellent! Haven't read that stuff in years.

Currently reading The Pillars of Creation, book 7 in the Sword of Truth series, by Terry Goodkind.

That was book 4, right? When you finish it I'd love to hear your opinion.

I think the plague storyline was OK, but it all went downhill fast near the end... especially after that certain super-awkward scene. What was the author thinking?

It's hard to beat the ones with the Palace of the Prophets, those were amazing.

I read the first years ago, when it first came out, and in the intervening years there were so many other books to read that I kept putting the series off. I recently read the two books in his new Nicci series and enjoyed them so I figured I'd go back and read the original series. I've heard that some of the latter books get a little iffy, but so far no real major issues for me.

I'm reading a great big book on how to delete dozens of friend requests from random people whether I know them or not. It's a really good book. I hope they write a sequel because they totally left the story open after the climax at the end, making me ask more questions about what will happen next than got answered reading the book.
