It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I like it but it's got a long way to being perfect. I didn't realise you could actually purchase through it.
Its functional to install and update games, but the lack of cloud saves and easier ways to organize your library are really a downside. That said its improving slowly, remember it took steam years to have these features as well.

Breja: The purple banner every time I open my library pisses me off. Other than that I don't know, and I don't care.

_Slaugh_:
If you have AdBlock Plus installed, add these three custom filters and you'll no longer see that ugly purple banner:

gog.com##.galaxy-banner
gog.com##.galaxy-banner__section.galaxy-banner__section--text
gog.com##.btn.btn--tall.btn--blue.game-details__header__button.btn--galaxy

Complete procedure

1. Click on the AddBlock Plus icon ( or go in Tools ➜ AdBlock Plus ) and select "Filter preferences".
2. Go to the "Custom filters" tab.
3. Click on "Add filter group", then double click on the newly created group to rename it. Make sure it's selected.
4. In the right pane, click on "Add filter" and type each of the above filters.
5. Reload your page.
Not tested it on this particular item, but it works well elsewhere. You can use AdBlock Edge. Then you can select what elements to hide. It can be anything. Just make sure so you don't choose something too general, so the entire site stops working (can be easily fixed ofc).

I use this all the time, for instance to remove those annoying tw*tter and other asocial media links everywhere. Plus ads that aren't caught by adblock for whatever reason (admittedly not many these days).

thejimz: I've never downloaded it because I hate game service clients. One of my favorite things about GOG is that you don't need any of that stuff--it can just be used as a pure store. I don't foresee myself downloading Galaxy unless I need to play a game online, but I don't really have any friends who buy games here.
As for GOG Galaxy itself, I agree with this. One of the... MANY reasons I don't use steam (spit), is the need for a container application. Okay, you don't NEED this with GOG Galaxy from what I understand, but I still don't like it, and prefer to not use it. This galaxy malarky just seems like steam light to me.

I don't like that they've basically hidden the good old GOG Downloader links, though, and since they don't develop this any more, in the future we may not have much of a choice -- sadly. So far I've used a download manager, which works I suppose, but it's not as good as the GOG Downloader was (even if it had its faults too).

nrgyzerbenny: I find it clunky, but very useful for installing my games library. Buying stuff with the client can be clunky, and I still prefer buying games in my browser. What are your opinions on it? What did they do right? What did they do wrong?
good design and potentially good but bugged... also not useful for me now.
to download games browser is the best option (gog downloader was better), gog galaxy really eat reasources of the computer (bug).
I cannot import my wrapper port (with wine/wineskin games)... since I use mac there are lots of game that I bought on gog and I port with wineskin... and I cannot import that because gog galaxy only work with gog games on the supported OS.
Also I only used gog galaxy for dreamfall, and to update my games it still download the whole package (on mac).

so, why use gog galaxy? for the archivements (I don't care)? for the update (better on browser, also for most games there are not so often)? for chat (like hell)?

I have it, because it is potentially good, but I don't use it for now (also the lack of Cloud Saving is not good at all).

Marioface5: I have it installed, but I never use it. Sometimes I'll load it up, see how things are going, and then close it again, but I never download things with it or play games while it's running. I'm really glad that it exists since it will allow more games to come to GOG and allow GOG versions of games to not have missing features, not to mention the the new users it will bring in. Personally though, I have no plans of ever using it aside from the very rare occasion where I might need it to play a game online with a friend.
Pretty much the same. I tried it out of curiosity, but see no point to use it at this time, even for downloading the offline installers. I am kind of for it though so that the lack of client is not a reason some new user doesn't want to buy a GOG game.

Frankly, the way the old GOG Downloader was used was kinda confusing, especially for newcomers who expected it to be simpler like the Steam client. I got fed up explaining over and over again that you have to be logged in both to the Downloader client and the web page, and click on the game download link on the web page so that it starts on the client... Ok for someone who uses torrent clients that probably feels familiar and makes sense, but for others...

I think it's cool. I experienced some failed installations though, but it got fixed later so it wasn't that much of a big deal.
What I like the most is the autopatching. It makes the installations much more convenient :D

thanks but it didn't work on mac.
I have only used it for installing and updating The Witcher 3 where there were quite a few hitches on every new update but for the most part it serves the purpose. Though I still don't appreciate how GOG pushed the optional client really hard with TW3 where the default launcher iautomatically starts Galaxy like Steam does.

GOG probably were aware of the pros and cons of launching the client in such an unfinished state with a high profile release like TW3 so I can't really blame them for taking a chance on a half baked software by highlighting Galaxy for new customers with it. I just wish that this complete focus on the optional client did not come at the detriment of the website and forum issues being ignored or given bare minimum attention for the most part.

It is of no interest to me. As a collector I want my product immediately downloaded via already installed software, backed up offline, and playable without internet connection. Zero interest in the social gaming aspect which is slowly turning each new release into a COD, hi five, 12 year old setup: looky here, I spent 12 hours playing xyz and unlocked dick on the forehead achievement! As for the down loader part of it, never had any issue with browser download, so why bother. I also associate client software with DRM, as that is one of their main features alongside supporting multiplayer. whilst this one isn't as such you can already see that a lot of users here are becoming reliant on it, I am looking at the posters who don't know how to install things for instance. As for multiplayer, don't really have any interest either. I don't have friends, and wouldn't want to play with them anyways. So all in all, a totally waste of resources from my side, although commercially its pulled in a fair amount of users so I don't see them dropping it, and eventually it will become fully optional (with irony there :o)
I kinda like it. I buy newer games here too and they receive a lot of patches. With GOG's broken update notification there's a good chance that you miss some patches and that you'll run into problems when you try to install later patches. Galaxy solves this because it takes care of updating. Otherwise it's pretty useless, which I like too ;) First thing I did on Steam was to disable all those ingame pop-ups, overlay, whatever. No need to do this in Galaxy since it doesn't hav anything like that (yet).
Quite frankly, the idea of an entire universe run by canines scares the hell out of me.

Oh wait, that's DOG Galaxy.
