Tarm: You too getting the rep wasting? That's just ridiculous. For fucks sake GOG you're making a fool of yourself. It's getting to the point that you actually need to put administer rights to people here because you don't give a fuck while we clearly do. Just let us do the job if you're to fucking lazy or stupid to realize our community here helped GOG grow by spreading the word. Idjits!

Don't give me that shit that rep doesn't matter. People put value in it. That makes it matter.

Antimateria: I once had over 300.. not anymore. =)
So like the new thing is negative? Way to go GOG. Your marketing department might need a little adjustment. Like actually acknowledge that social media exist. Retards.

Tarm: Oh they do. "Hey he got 1470 points! He clearly is someone to listen to!". People work that way. You put any kind of points or similar things on people they get a value. It's fucking basic pecking and group psychology dynamics.

zeogold: Pretty sure the only people it'd fool would be newbies. I figured it out in less than a month of being here, and even at that, I started to get a sense of what was up by watching how people acted. There are plenty of low-rated members who are great people, and there are an equal number of people in the high rankings who aren't exactly the greatest. It's just a number on a forum which was put in place to begin with to do naught but indicate how much one has posted.

Currently, I'm drinking blackberry-flavored ginger ale. I didn't know they even sold this stuff.
How many people do you think do like you? From what I know you're a above average intelligent person that truly like to learn. You'd be surprised how awfully rare that is among people.

I once was like you.. then I got sauced. =D

How many people like me? Not many I'd wager. ^^

Edit: infact, at this moment i'm not so fond of myself either.

We're still undergoing formal investigation of whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Thanks for the compliment. And you do have a point, but I'd assume if somebody was interested in sticking around this place at all, they'd soon learn what was up. It doesn't take long to see that people like Antimateria and others are just fine and dandy. The only way I can see them not figuring it out is if they actively don't care/won't listen or don't intend to stick around for very long, in which case they never were exactly going to be part of the community anyways.

So you assume people will lurk and watch and read every thread there is to get a feel of who's who?

It doesn't work like that. People don't post in every thread. They post in the ones they like.
People only read the threads they have any interest in and not everyone.
Now how the heck would that work practically for someone just registering here, opening a thread about advice and then try to choose who to trust?
Yeah way to go to get new people here GOG. Social media is just too "niche" for GOG now...

You can see in the future? I think i'll say just that, only in finnish after ten. I mean come on. Nobody wants to go treasure hunting after booze.

Edit: luckily this place is full of friends! PS. lel.

By looking at the answers and seeing which sounds the most reasonable. Same you'd do if there was no number at all.
But I suppose you have a point. I just argue that if they intend to stay around for any length of time, they'll eventually figure it out. If they're just a random person who comes stumbling across the place to ask one question and leave, then they aren't really part of the community, so it won't matter anyways.
