Yep. It's definitely one of those anime that you can always come back to without it ever going dull.

Jump Comics (or Shonen Jump) is basically a weekly published manga magazine that contains several different manga for the buyer to read. The company that runs it is Shueisha who basically finds independent manga creators and serialize their manga in their weekly magazine. So Shueisha is like Marvel or DC and shonen jump is a magazine containing several manga that you can follow the stories of every week (so x-men, spiderman, batman, etc but one chapter and you need to buy the next chapter the next week).

The latest stories come out on shonen jump magazine but if you are only interested in one manga, you can wait for the manga to publish their own compilation which is books of only that manga. The Japanese manga industry is quite different from the US in that regard.

There's a freaking good 4 episode anime prequel called Trust and Betrayal, has a much mature setting than the series and is worth every minute, it doesn't treat the viewer as a 5yo child like the series does. Even for those who know nothing about Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X will enjoy this.
Reflection is a 2 episode "ending" and the live action films take those in account.

Worth noting that "Trust and Betrayal" and "Reflection" are the reason I started to watch anime. It's good even for those who don't really like anime or find it generally annoying. No kid voice screaming every 2 seconds, no cute/dumb pet/sidekick created to explain what's going on to 5yo children, no power up names or over the top scenes. Just good old story being told, sometimes by a simple look expression.

Full Metal Alchemist or Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood? A lot of people consider Brotherhood better since it's closer to manga. However, I personally like FMA too, as certain parts of Brotherhood are somewhat disappointing. It's basically "equal exchange principle" IRL - some things are better in Brotherhood, some are in FMA.
Instead of watching Dragonball Z, better play Dragonball Z: Kakarot - it would take less time. XD
The first season of Castlevania was good. The rest of the story is inferior to games. IMHO.

JOJO is anime for the manliest part of a planet. Especially first seasons, so I hardly recommend you to check them out!

The former and conqueror of shambala. Can't say much about brotherhood as I don't think I sat through more than one episode and that trash fire live action version put me off the series after that.
You know the one where they are all like asian even though like the whole thing is basically european maybe partly arabic setting.
Probably wouldn't of been so bad if they did it as an alternate timeline or as like a second age of alchemy thing based further east, but making live action was a bad choice in and of itself and suddenly having all the western characters played by incompatible actors.
I mean it may have worked for final fantasy, but not FMA.
Not to be racist, but it's a bit like recasting the movie 'hero' with actors from shakespears days with not bothering to make them seem congruent.
Why waste your time if you know it's going to be half arsed rubbish anyways; meanwhile throne of blood which is based around macbeth is proof of my point and is quite excellent though arguably not anime which is the focus of this thread.

I'm watching Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and loving every second of it. Some people say the story is confusing, but I'm not having a hard time keeping track of it so far(I'm on episode 37: no spoilers please:)

This thread is vastly overrun by "shonen" anime (not that there's anything wrong with that, but they do get quite boring after a while), so to add a dialogue-based slice-of-life brain tease I can recommend Odd Taxi.

Just watch 20 episodes of this. Who the hell said that the show was getting boring?

So, I watched the first series of Stein's Gate and I really enjoyed it - great story, interesting characters, some really cool twists. But now I'm looking for another series to get into, and I've gotta say I'm struggling. So far, I've watched the first episodes of Cowboy Bebop, One Piece and Record of Lodoss War, but none of those seemed to grip me in the way that Stein's Gate did.

Cowboy Bebop - the first episode seems cool and it seems very stylish. I like the premise of what seems like a western set in space. Although, it seemed a bit overly reliant on violence as a plot vehicle and the characters seemed to lack much depth. Although, presumably they will flesh out the characters more in later episodes and I will probably try watching it some more at some point.

One Piece - it seemed pretty fun and interesting, although perhaps a bit too ... 'whacky' for my tastes? It seemed a bit random, especially this thing with Luffy stretching like Mr. Incredible. Yeah ... I dunno. I might watch another couple of episodes and give it a chance.

Record of Lodoss War - I just saw it as I was browsing through Funimation and it looked kind of interesting. It seemed alright, but a bit like someone just rolled up some D&D characters and threw them into a random 'dungeony-type place'. Didn't seem to provide much context of what they were doing there and the characters seemed a bit shallow and generic.

I guess what I liked about Stein's Gate is the complex, interesting, twisting plot. Also, the fact that it seems to focus more on character interaction and isn't overly reliant on combat/violence. It also seems a bit more sophisticated than some shows and not too childish.

Any suggestions for other shows I could try?

Sword Art Online (One of my personal favorites. The OST is good and it has a lot of feels. With Sword Art Online 2 and Alicization, expect abt 70+ episodes. Note:Alicization is still ongoing and it’s unknown how many episodes it’s gonna span.)
