I've just finished Planet of Lana, a gem of a story-driven puzzle platformer game. While it is a rather short game (it took me as a seasoned veteran about 4 hours to finish it, while my girlfriend did it in about 6 and something), its charm is hard to escape. It left me wishing for more.

As for the game itself, I've seen others say it has a Studio Ghibli feel to it, and I agree. In fact, I'd say I haven't had such a good laid-back platforming experience since playing the DOS version of Prince of Persia on my old trusty 486. That is, if Prince of Persia had its fitting "1001 Arabian Nights" substituted for a SF theme of robots and semi-sentient cats. Alright, no more spoilers.

Let's get down to the giveaway. Participants must express their willingness to participate in the giveaway and decide what companion animal they'd like to have at their side if it could be semi-sentient and somewhat gifted. Let's say it could have the intelligence of a 6 to 8 year old human. Argumentation on one's decision is a plus, however the winners will be chosen by the Gods of fate regardless, using random.org to pick 3 winning post numbers.

The gods will decide in a week's time and deliver 3 copies of the game to 3 happy winners that will enjoy a piece of SF-platforming bliss.

Why 3 you ask? Because it only takes 3 notes to save the day. And a cat, admittedly.

Edit: Upon further consideration, there will be 5 gifted copies, since there's actually a sequence of 5 notes that saved the day (but only 3 of them are distinct).

P.S.: No, I wouldn't call Hollow Knight a laid-back experience, but I also enjoyed it very much. Still, it's in a different category of Metroidvania, which Planet of Lana is not. You'll be puzzling here more than cursing your jump timings. Well, maybe you'll still curse your timings, but a lot less.

I'm in!

My companion animal would be a dog. More specifically, a papillon. For starters, they're cute enough to fit right in with a platforming game world (the breed name means "butterfly" in French and looking at them you can see why). These distinctive-looking canines have frequently impressed at dog shows. They'd be perfect for scurrying through tunnels and whatever else a platforming adventurer needs. They're also among the smartest dog breeds, so they could manage to push buttons and levers.

Not in as puzzle platformers are hit or miss for me. I was able to get through GRIS with little difficulty, but I'm stuck on Never Alone. Anyway, I'm here mostly to remind that the correct answer is cat. <3
I'd also like to be in. The Ghibli feel you mentioned is quite enticing and endearing, and also it's pretty nice that you're so keen and generous to share with everyone here the fun and the experience you had with the game. Thanks for the giveaway!

Ok, my companion would be a crow, claws down. Let Odin have his ravens, crows are way cuter, funnier, and can also be as smart as a kid and are definitely smarter than most adults. A magpie could also be ideal because it also has got the smarts, it can dive bomb any pesky individual who could try to disturb any puzzle-solving endeavours, and its song is pretty great; but since the crows made Jamiroquai produce and play their song instead of composing one and sing it themselves, then it's gotta be the crow for sure, best animal companion ever and it even knows how to jam.

The lucky stallion #5 joins the wonderful giveaway race. What can I say about horses? Incredible companions and many stories in the literature about their loyalty, intelligence and awareness. There are even equine assisted therapies. Thanks Winter for the giveaway of such incredible game and GL y'all!.
Thanks for the GA.

I and my Nuggeto Kazuma aka Chicken of Dojima are in.

Not in but thanks for the giveaway.
While I'm here: as a sentient companion animal, I would choose a green parrot. Or maybe a tarantula. A tarantula with the intelligence of a 6-8 years old human would be quite an interesting sight, I think.
I'm very much in. Thanks for the opportunity!

I'd choose a dog - a golden retriever. No additional gifts needed.
please, count me in.
as fur a companion, I'd take an optimistic zwergpinscher with me.
Thanks for the GA. I'm in please.

I would have to go with a cat I think. Obviously perfectly suited to platforming and having grown up with two I've always been drawn to having a cat again at some point (although that point has yet to come..).
i'm in for the Planet of Lana GA

I'll definitely bring along a sentient and gifted vegetarian dragon. It's good to have a flying steed with huge talons, tough scaly armor and a lethal breath attack.

I very much approve of how everyone is picking a dog. I too would pick a nice big german shepherd. I'm not in, as I'm not sure I'd enjoy the game, despite how pretty it looks (the glut of 'indie puzzle platformers' in the late 2000s and early 2010s have permanently soured me on the genre), but I just wanted to point out that:

I remember the gory parts, but somehow that game never stressed me out in any way. The most annoying moments were when my "shadow" stole potions from me. Hated that guy! :P
How nice and inspiring...

Not in it for the give-away. Just wanted to express my gratitude for this little bit of sunshine on this otherwise clouded rainy day.

and to share my spirit uhm i mean companion

I'm in for lovely Planet of Lana!

I would go on a journey carrying a goldfish in a large handy aquarium. I'd feel so much better knowing she could grant me three wishes at any time. At least I believe that...

Thank You WinterSnowfall for pointing out an interesting game and a generous giveaway!
