Will depend on how 'hands on' they feel the need to be. Keeping spammers and scammers in check is fine. Running the place with an iron fist? If that happens you'll probably see a lot less of some people around here, myself included. But it wouldn't surprise me. I'm an internet vet, so I've seen it happen before.

About the same for me. Though the way it is now is equally bad I think for GOG so odds are it will get better. Better to have some steering than none at all.

Running a forum isn't that hard, so long as you don't let the weeds get too high. I've done it before. GOG forums need a reformat with proper child sub threads, some organizing of topics, as well as some house cleaning due to all the random shit that gets thrown about. It doesn't need a goddamn UN security council and 300 by-laws. Besides, GOG has built up a pretty stubborn clan full of opinionated old timers and hot headed anti-DRM kids. If they force a web Hitler on them now, it might make the whole thing crap the bed. Time will tell.

I have too and again I agree. I would like to add a clear vision what exactly the forum and community should have for focus is the first and most important step. Fine tuning the rest as in what should be allowed and how it should be organised isn't very hard. Just do as GOG have always done with testing and seeing what works and what doesn't.

Usually stuff like this involves making a community and shaping the members around it. As you point out GOG have to start in the other end now or they will fail spectacularly. :P
