HypersomniacLive: Because it's not worth their time and effort as things are, or at least as they were.

I understand that the "X rep required to post links" system is an inconvenience for low rep users, but since it was put in place due to spam bots, they have no reason to remove it from their POV, and that's making a quick and cost-efficient "patch" to deal with the situation without messing with the current forum software. GOG's a business, and if they see an increase in the use of the forum by their userbase as they grow, they will re-evaluate things and do something about it that goes beyond quickly "patching" things.

JMO
And that is why i don't even care what the scammers and trolls do around here, this is now a dump, newcomers will have bad impression of this place and that is what gog doesn't want, bad publicity, if there was word that the gog forums is filled with scammers and trolls then i bet that gog would actually make some effort with this place.

Why? Well, as you said HypersomniacLive, they won't bother to make a patch for fix something simple like that (the rep posting system), right?
But hey, it didn't took them too long to implement a system to block some words from the forum, right? Why? Because it was on the front page of the forum.

Just a reminder with the people were dealing here folks...

tinyE: Shouldn't you be watching the football game? It's 0-0.

Painted_Doll: I don't fucking care about football . ( especially the hungarian one )
You really hate me.

What's the deal? When you were a baby did an octopus drop you on your head? :P

That ":-D" has just denied your statement ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

adaliabooks: Nice to see Gog are finally paying some attention to the forum. Shame about the relocation to Poland still being necessary, but hopefully someone from the community will be willing and interested and will give it a go :)

mecharma: Poland is awesome!
I'm sure it is, but I'm not in any position to move there...

Maxvorstadt: Traitor! :-D
The hungarian football is dead since 1986 . But our focibuzi prime minister spend billions on football stadiums instead of the health care or education or anything that more important than his mania .

Hm, maybe your country should re-unite with Austria? :-)

Actually creating a swear filter is probably far easier than even disabling rep would be. It's mostly just a regex (I assume) inserted in the right place. But the rep is everywhere, every user has it, every post has an up and down vote. Assuming the forum is even relatively well coded (and evidence suggests that's not the case) it could be a weeks job to root out all the relevant code and disable it (while also removing other things like the rep check to post links) and it's not worth that effort for Gog at the moment.

That will never happen .
It sounds wonderful that this is a sign that GOG's finally paying attention to the community for once, but I'm pretty sure that the whole moving-to-Poland thing is going to stop pretty much everybody applying except for those who already live there. Which is a shame, because a community specialist really should be somebody from the community. Heck, even I'D apply if it wasn't for that.
Which makes me wonder, why is this move necessary? Isn't it all from a computer anyway....?

Well, the Austrian team seems to see it the other way, on their shirts is written "Aut - Hun". :-D

Yeah, I definitely want a german community manager who also lives in Germany.

For better or worst, quite a few things will require you being able to quickly communicate with the rest of the team. Not to mention staff meetings about which direction the site is going, brainstorming sessions for promotions and/or contests, as well as the ability to build some team spirit.
So yes, you could do the whole work remotely, but you'd be like the singer of the band that tells them to practice their song until they are perfect, and then he'll come in to do the vocals.

I was not talking about the rep system as it is, i was talking about not being able to post links unless i have 10 rep, the system that was put in place in order to stop the bots from posting links.
