If those were actual characters from the game and not some fan-made versions making fun of the game (like someone made an illlustration of "fat Eve" protagonist for Stellar Blade, as a joke what it would look like if it was made by woke-people)...
...then it would have been very interesting to see and hear the design team meetings where they discuss and brainstorm about the character designs, what kind of guidelines they've been given (if any), what arguments they use for those being good character designs that players will love, etc...
I mean, yeah, it is quite hard to understand why someone would want to make characters look like... that. Unless it indeed was some ideological "well we got the guidelines that there must be women of color which are not pretty, don't know why but that is what our boss said".
EDIT: Are those "fixed" character designs, or what is like some of those GTA-like games or RPGs where you can make the character yourself, deciding skin color, body-type etc.? Yeah I recall you could make your protagonist e.g. a black fat lady in some such games, if you wanted to. But that's a different thing.
