Why does he hate GoG so much? Isn't trying to be different one of the ways of getting more customers? IMO, people who are out to get free games are just going to pirate them instead of abusing the system. I mean, why would you go through all the hoops? It isn't even a guaranteed refund.

It's funny because i actually bought the dawn of war series including it's expansions BECAUSE they were DRM Free all my friends did who LAN it.

I remember buying one farcry and noting aside from a set single player campaign there was no AI bot skirmish or multiplay and so no value in replayability; so i didn't continue buying into the series.

Just Saying.
This guy is very hostile towards modders for some reason

* You may feel modding our game is your right, but it is not.

* You may feel that you "know better" than we do about how our game should play or be "fixed", and that somehow it's up to the community to address the deficiencies in our game, because clearly the development team doesn't know what it is doing. This is antagonistic and insulting. If we haven't gotten around to addressing things like the persistence of broken snow shelters, or breathing effects (fixed BTW), or any other personal bugbear you have with the game, it's because we're trying to run a business and ship both Survival and Story updates to hungry customers. Just because we haven't gotten around to fixing your personal pet peeve with the game doesn't justify the existence or persistence of unofficial mods.

* I'm not at all sad to think that players will no longer be able to crack open our game and review all our systems and tuning. A lot of the "magic" of the game is ruined by knowing too much about what's under the hood. I understand the tinkerer's mentality but we work hard to preserve some sense of mystery and joy in the experience our game can create for people, and I'm not at all saddened to think that people would not longer be able to hack our game and share details about systems and tuning that we may prefer to keep to ourselves.
He also received a lot of backlash this week for removing The Long Dark from Geforce Now.

At this rate, I'm expecting his next game to be an Epic Store exclusive.

Which one? lol.
Unless he has some say in where these games are published, it doesn't matter.
I don't get why some of these guys focus on the refund period that much. Apparently they haven't really understood how GOG works, as opposed to Steam. If a customer really wanted to abuse a DRM-free system, they could do so within an hour. The play-time is irrelevant, and not trackable in the first place.

The Long Dark most likely will not come anytime soon. But the others he doesn't own them so no reason as to why the owners of the franchises can't release them here if they choose to.

For someone who claims to be 'we are one of the most pro-player/customer devs' they really are not coming over as that. They are coming over as one of the most anti-player/customer devs.

His tweets sound more like a typical Ubisoft employee who had no intention of bringing his games here anyway but is looking for an excuse to justify it as if "they want to but something other than themselves is holding them back". That's why Far Cry 3 (2012) still wasn't here even before GOG's refund policy change 8 years post-launch despite the fact that Far Cry 1 took only 5 years (2004 to 2009) to come to GOG. If GOG hadn't changed their refund policy would Far Cry 3 be here? No. Why? "Ubisoft reasons..."

Yep, it’s Ubisoft all over. Only on their own platform, no modding (and endless “collectibles”). None of their games will come here, and to be fair far cry 5 and new dawn were pretty bad anyways, so no loss there.
To be fair, for GOG to not inform developers of a pretty major change is errr...well frankly it's stupid. There should have been some level of interaction over the topic. Indie studios, or people, are hyper connected to their work. The chances are they've been put through financial, mental and physical stresses while working on their game and that in turn intensifies any emotion they have towards and around the game.

I can totally understand being 'butt hurt' over this, but some of his post was hyperbolic, but who isn't these day on twitter haha

Wow what a Douche Canoe typical bobby kotick style loser; open mouth insert foot.
Modders don't get paid a salary to fix things and even if they end up being able to somehow get profit from their actual own work (such as through ad revenue at the most basic), so what?! The company only released their work and the free market ended up with a need which available suppliers filled. He can go suck a fart if there's not enough money in it for him to pay someone to do the work when it needs to be done, but others are willing to step up for next to nothing.
In the end people like him just get this artistic vision akin to blinders and end up making shit anyways (see kingdom come deliverance, historically accurate combat that is completely crap when wedged into a console games mechanics like a fat turd in a mincer.

Especially considering it was on GOG, but was later removed. To be fair, it still gets updates, most recently Feb. 13 (version 1.74).

So this about some Ubisoft guy posting something on Twitter?

Space Marine, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War are published by SEGA. (and THAT's why there's little hope of these three appearing on GOG)
