New features, local currency option, new payment methods, store credit, and an updated look for GOG.com!

For almost six years now we strive to bring you not only the best in DRM-Free gaming, but also to give you the greatest experience possible. To that end we're always looking for ways to improve our site and service. Today, we're rolling out a vastly updated version of our store with an improved interface, sleek new look, and lots of handy new features. Let's take a quick tour, shall we?

Video: Welcome to the fresher, better GOG.com!

First of all we are giving you more DRM-free content: movies! We are starting with 20 documentaries about internet and gaming culture but we aim high! You can find more on this in the appropriate newspost, so let's focus on the other features we're rolling out.

We wanted to give you more choice as to how you pay for things on GOG.com. Now it's up to you if you want to pay in US Dollars, or in the currency primarily used in your country, whether it's the Euro, Pounds Sterling, Australian Dollars, or Russian Roubles. That's four new currencies supported by GOG.com for your convenience. Still - the choice is yours, so if you want to stick to US dollars, just switch to it - you find this option at the bottom of each page. To make buying things at GOG.com an even more flexible process, we're introducing some new payment methods: Sofort, Giropay, Webmoney, and Yandex.

All this also means that users for whom the local currency pricing has been enabled will have an option to select one of two different prices for each game in our catalog. Of course, we stand by the simple truth that $1 does not equal 1€, so a game with a $5.99 price tag will cost 4.49 Euro, 3.69 British Pounds, 6.49 Australian Dollars, and 219 Roubles respectively. $9.99 translates to 7.49 Euro, 5.99 Pounds Sterling, 10.89 Australian Dollars, and 359 Roubles. In a perfect world we would apply the same method of pricing to all of the games we offer. However, things are a little bit more complicated, and there are some games in our catalog that follow a different region-based pricing scheme. However, we wouldn't be GOG.com if we didn't find a way to make right by the users who end up paying relatively more for such titles. Here's where the Fair Price Package comes in!

The Fair Price Package applies to all of the titles which we couldn't include in our standard pricing scheme. If you end up paying more for a game than its standard US Dollar price, we'll refund you the difference out of our own pocket. The refunded value will be added to your account in Store Credit in the currency of your purchase. That's right, no more gift codes, you'll be getting Store Credit that you can use to purchase anything on GOG.com or partially pay for an item that's more expensive. More choice, ease of use, and less limitations!

Finally, the GOG.com store has gotten itself a substantial visual revamp. We went for a fresh, mobile-friendly design that should make it even easier to find the games you want, notice the hot promos, and see what's new. The main page, catalog view, product pages, and checkout have been updated and also lay the groundwork for even more overhaul, coming within the next few months together with many of the GOG Galaxy features. We hope you like it!

PS. Unfortunately, we need to drop some titles from our classic catalog. In such cases, we always do our best to give you an advance warning and a last chance to purchase such games - preferably with a considerable discount. Check this news post to find out which titles are being removed from our catalog, when will it happen, and what parting discounts for them do we currently offer.

I like the new design layout 8). I might check the two freebie movies eventually.

DalekSec: The games section no longers says what games you already own :(
I hated that. I bought over 100 games in last year just to add them to my collection. I would like to see which games I own while I am browsing through games. Now it looks like I dont own any of the games and it freaks me out.

Edit: The new look is horrible. I cant see the pictures big, they are stuck in that small size. And When I click some of the pictures dont even open. Looks like you guys wanted to mix Origin and Stream features but it totally sucks. I can accept that if you had to do it because of some technical limitations like adapting it to smart phones. Otherwise you should listen to that old English Saying. "IF it aint broken, Dont fix it"

Edit2 [BUG]: There is some sort of bug in the "My Collection" page. It happens when I click a game, Scroll down and try to click an other game. The page stops responding and you cant click anywhere. I tried this on both chrome and firefox. Same result.

Repeating the question again today:

Where is Gog Galaxy that was supposed to be released till the end of August? September is coming soon.

Instead we got this gray website.

And also why is givewaway code use blocked for me when I try to confirm an inserted game code (it says temporary blocked).

What is it with sites and this "modern" look? Several sites I use changed from having color to just being grey. Personally I hate it it looks so bland and generic, as the old layout looked good and was vibrant and full of color (also you could just search and such without having to click several times.)

There is something about the new look that to me screams DRM! So I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see that coming next.

The fresher, better GOG.com messed up the best selling list. When I order games by bestselling the D&D games aren't there anymore.

Another UI feature missing. Where is "add to my wishlist" link?

UPDATE: actually it was adblockplus that cut it out for me. Because it treated it as part of the "socials" tracker element for some reason.

UPDATE 2: I see now why. The div element that contains it is called socials__list. GOG, please don't include "add to wishlist" into socials div which is normally blocked by Adblock lists to prevent snooping like tracking from FB and the like.

I hope this is the right place to post this, but I think it would be great if the game lists still showed 'owned' under the game's cover rather than the price (like the 'old' site did).
I dont like new look. Maybe im too old.
I take my earlier praise back a bit:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/welcome_to_the_fresher_better_gogcom/post936

Logout with a mobile device is still hard. At first I thought the Account menu opens only when you click on it (not when you merely hover a mouse over it), but that's not the case. I still can't access those menu items properly with a tablet or phone.

I seem to sometimes be able to access the Logout link though, by clicking on the Account, instantly hitting cancel on Firefox (so that it doesn't proceed the actual Account page), and then clicking on the Logout. Sometimes that works, but often not.

So GOG, PLEASE make one of these changes (in order of preference):

1. Change the Games/Movies/Community/Support/Account menu items so that the menus open only when you click on the menu item, not when you hover a mouse on it. At least I am not aware how to mimic the "hover a mouse over an item" on an Android tablet or phone.

2. Or the very least, add a "Logout" button either as one of those Menu items, or add Logout into the Account page.

There are many users to e.g. our tablet, and I'd rather not let the others log into GOG.com as me. (And no, I can't create several users to the tablet, the Android version is so old that it doesn't support that. Not sure if I wanted to create them even if I could, constantly switching users just in order to access internet for a bit.)

Other than that, at least the main page seems more tablet friendly than before, which is a good thing, as it still seems to work fine also with PC. Plus, I like the fact you can still zoom in and out on a tablet, something that is not possible on many mobile web sites. My poor eyes trying to read that tiny text from a phone screen...
Witcher 3 Widget on the main page needs fixing so that it will show the correct discount like on the old website - two games 20% discount, etc.
As always GOG - top work! Keep it up!!
I can't stomach the idea of going through 50 pages of comments, so this might already been pointed out, but here are my €.02 anyway…

Overall it's a nice change! I know "flat" is getting a bit of a cliché and I liked the old design too, but this is very tastefully done re. proportions and the focus given to images (even though the game pages feel a bit more… disjointed — maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it though).

It's great that it's responsive! Thanks for the change; it was a pain to browse on the phone. Unfortunately this does not extend to the account/community areas yet. Coming soon?

Where's the "Add to wishlist" button? I hope this was an oversight and it's coming back soon, rather than a design decision! The current workflow for this (cart -> move to wishlist) is painful and completely non-obvious. Came across it purely by chance.

Please make owned games more distinctive in lists — the grey colour is too subtle.

… and there is no indication that a game is on your wishlist already.

So, great work, please keep it up! :)

*citation needed*
AFAIK the most exact answer to questions about the release date GOG staff has ever given is "soon". You might be confusing this to its version used by Witcher Adventure Game which has been out for two months now and is very basic.
