A fine time for a gaming sale indeed… So welcome to the Big Fall Sale - 11 days of new daily deals every 12 hours, a new set of bundles every 24 hours and free games to unlock.

The Big Fall Sale goes to eleven. It's one better, isn't it?

Well, that's the end of the sale.

More good bundles, really good prices, even some really nice artwork on the front page. (Though I still hope to see the revenge of the stump creature at some point.)

The pacing's been off, but at least the lower levels of energy were sustained by not doing a mid-point repeat day.

Spread things out more, don't show all your non-bundle items day one, maybe make the last chance icons larger while explaining in 20 foot high letters that no, last chance items aren't being removed from GOG, honest, and the next sale should be better. =)

This. Showing all flash deals on day one totally killed the excitement for me. Daily bundles were the only thing I could look forward. Also I was kinda relying all the bundles will stay up after return till the end of the sale and I have missed the Interplay one :/

Ditto. One thing I really like, though, is how they introduced new releases (with great discounts) during the sale instead of simply putting them on hold as usual.
So how is GOG's refund policy? I kind of regret buying S2: Silent Storm Gold Edition as it runs horribly (like almost unplayable) even though my computer largely meets the minimal system requirement. And I don't feel like spending hours to find a tweak to get it to run properly.

Just send an email and see whether they help you out. You can't know for sure unless you try it!

If the game doesn't run well at all, you should contact support to help you troubleshoot the game's issues:
https://www.gog.com/support/contact/technical_issues_with_games/silent_storm_gold

Should the support team fail to help you run the game in a satisfactory condition, you should then be eligible for a refund.
Does anyone know if the bugs were fixed in Signal Ops?

IronArcturus: Has anyone tried Signal Ops before? Is the game some kind of strategy FPS?
You can play over LAN with up to 3 people and are sitting in kind of a control room watching 3 CRT monitors, but can control the first person view of one of those 3 CRT monitors. The other 2 people on the LAN can control the other monitor(s). One of the controlled guys has to be the one carrying the "video feed transmitter" along which always has to be reloaded at various stations in the game, giving it a very strategic and tactical angle. It's pretty hardcore and won't hold your hand but if you got one or two cool guys to play and learn things together with it's as awesome as it can get.

So how does the game work in just singleplayer mode? Does it have some kind of Skirmish or Deathmatch mode?

Judicus7: Understood. Oh TIS-100 looks intriguing, good find! I'll wait till next time then, too. I now have a big enough list to go through for awhile anyways. Haha. Thanks!
I picked it up during the sale, it's good but I'm finding it harder than Spacechem. I may have to break down and check a walkthrough on about the fifth puzzle, because I understand what I need to do to finish the level, I just can't figure out how to use the very limited command set to accomplish it. The instructions are intentionally minimal. :)
Anyone have any experience with Elminage Gothic? I've been looking up information and all I can find repeated over and over is that's "old school" and difficult. But nothing concrete on how it plays or feels or anything.

I like the idea of a modern UI'd dungeon crawler on PC. The UI's and lack of ingame information of those games are a major roadblock to playing them these days.

You can google "Fluent Elminage Gothic youtube" to get a look at some videos.

Well, if you wanna DM you'd be better off playing http://www.unrealtournament.com/ . Apart from that, it's like playing Trine solo, which means... it's not so cool, obviously.
I've previously commented about the price that I am shown for some games fluctuating from one page load to the next from the US price shown to Americans to the US price shown to Canadians. GOG support has suggested it is because my IP address at my ISP might be misidentified in the Maxmind geoip database (but it isn't, it is correctly identifying me as being in Canada), but the funny thing is when I get the wrong price and immediately hit reload - my IP address doesn't change each time. In fact my IP address never changes, it's been the same for a couple yearsish.

Well, I finally figured out what the problem is in case anyone else is having the problem. The problem is GOG's website code is broken. I currently have the GOG homepage showing in Firefox and it shows The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone expansion on the screen twice, but it is showing the American price of $8.99 on one of the instances, and the Canadian price of $7.19 on the other one. The problem is entirely on GOG's website and not on the end user's computer, ISP, IP address, geoiplookup problems etc.

Just thought I'd pass that along for anyone else having the problem. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be a problem in client side Javascript or anything end user visible, but rather it is likely on their backend server code that is invisible to the end user so it does not appear to be diagnosable from outside of GOG.

I've attached 2 screen crops below which are both taken from a single load of the GOG homepage. The Witcher 3 expansion appears twice on the page, with two different prices as mentioned above. Likewise The Witcher 3 base game also shows up with two completely different prices however since I own the game the price is hidden by default and shows "owned", so I had to hover the mouse over it and take a screenshot for each instance it appears on the page in order for the prices to show.

This isn't just a bug in this promo however, these prices change for me all the time at random and it has nothing to do with my IP address changing as it never changes.

I should also note that while I normally look for and notice this with The Witcher 3 and its expansion, it also happens with other titles which appear to have different prices depending on what country someone is in. When I notice other games specifically I'll make note of it, but I don't memorize the prices of everything so it's hard to notice, which is also why it is very annoying.

UPDATE:
Immediately after I submitted the above comment, I clicked on the GOG logo and went to the homepage and the price changed again and now both of the instances of The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone show up with the wrong (American) pricing for me at $8.99, when as you can see in the other screenshots the bottom one showed a lower price. Attached a 3rd screenshot for this below.

GOG please fix this!

innerring: Why the Fallout classics show up as not owned?
avatar
real.geizterfahr: Because you don't own this "edition". You own the old Fallouts with more extras ;)
OMG! It's true! The old versions of the Fallout games offered here had heaps of extras compared to the resurrected versions offered now. Thanks for the info. :)
