I really don't know how people keep making these super intense looking uh 4x? games.
I'm not really into them, so maybe there not as hard to make as I think?
I really wish there was a sci-fi strategy like HoMM or Disciples. Turn based, easy to learn, not much focus on economy... sci-fi strategies seem to almost always be these huge, sprawling, super involved behemoths that immediately frighten me off. Real time also, so it can be even more overwhelming.
Very nice.

It's still funny to see a publisher on GOG with all unreleased titles though. Definitely looking forward to Old World once that Epic nonsense ends.
Hooded Horse (at least according to their CEO) also are proponents of the DRM-free cause and GoG, so even though I'm not massive into 4Xs I might just pick up all of them as a "thank you" for releasing here.
Is alliance related to empire of the fading suns in any way?

I guess I'm getting jaded. I used to jump on turn-based space games, but none of these look all that appealing to me. Falling Frontier isn't even turn-based (although rtwp and slow pacing like Stellaris uses isn't that bad). Alliance of the Sacred Suns looks like a boring empire sim like Crusader Kings (albeit turn-based, if the "next turn" button on one of the screens is to be believed). Terra Invicta appears to have simultaneous turn-based combat, but it's hard to say if they don't mention it. Not that it matters. All three of these games look like the sort of thing where you spend most of your time staring at stat screens, which isn't really all that much fun to me.

Also, all three games mention modding. Is that modding via a closed-to-gog Steam Workshop?

Maybe AoW Planetfall? I don't really care for the WH/WH40k universe, but maybe WH40k Gladius?

I know it seems to fit the bill, but to be honest I never really liked the original Age of Wonders, could never get into it. And Planetfall ain't cheap, so I'm kind of disinclined to gamble on it.

Just gonna mention that some space strategy games you can adjust the speed and in some cases even pause
and then start constructing, managing, adjusting etc

I know but even then the ammount of "managind and adjusting" tends to be... let me put it this way - Alliance of the Sacred Suns here seems to be turn based, and still this screen is enough for me to get a panic attack.

I think it's because of time. Back then sci fi audience are way bigger so developers made sci fi games simpler so they can spread their sales web bigger. But now people are far more picky with sci fi games with narrower fan base.

This phenomena isn't exclusively happened in video games. Even movies and TV series as well. For example try comparing the classic Battlestar Galactica with the new series. Or Ancient Dr Who compared to current Dr Who. The only one trying to be consistent is Star Wars with the genre of popcorn sci fi western but they also failed miserably.

Now if the publisher and Steam want to keep it open, use this:

Usually pretty straight forward as the workshop is copy/paste. Hope that helps.
