I got a warning "destination already got a folder...".

At first i had in mind something screwed up and the net as usual telling lot of trash "your PC boom, data corrupted and what else... worst stuff ever", but the truth is... the error message was correct; The same file is 2 times inside the same folder. However, if i instal Venetica there is no issues with 2 equal files at same location. I guess because it does tolerate install files but unable to copy after. Not sure this is correct, maybe a bug... i dunno. So how to copy this file?

I have to use a external uploader because the forum says "wrong file"; yet it is JPG... but anway, to me the forum is broken in many ways (can not even make a proper link anymore).

Ah yeh, left is the installed game and right is the copied game... yet it will fail because of this issue. Really very rare... so far the only game with this issue.

https:/.../ibb.co/D8SQ1DS

I was even reinstalling Venetica... the issue will not go away, so it is inside the installer this way.

According to my logics this is incorrect and may even cause issues, but i am no dev, no experience here.

I can't say anything about the installer or the error.
But I looked at your screenshot and I think that the first file actually has a leading space in the name. That's why it's seemingly out of alphabetical order.
So is my Windows just stupid, giving a wrong copy-error? But why does Windows allow a instal this way?

So far i did not experience this situation in another game... so it is not a usual way how it is done.

How? I tried, but I couldn't. This

https:/.../ibb.co/D8SQ1DS

is not clickable for me, and pasting it directly into the address doesn't do it either. What am I doing wrong?
I can not set any URL on this forum... either it is bugged or blocked, no clue.

Not even uploading the picture directly using attach works for me...

Just competely broken, but my games are usually not broken... so i hope it will stay this way.

I removed the "... /" and copied the remainder into the address bar. Magic. ;-)
There is no other way... clickable URL will be blocked... it was like this for a eternity.

To attach the screenshot here, it must be in JPEG format (I think). AND, for some reason I don't understand, when you go to attach it, if the final three letters, the three letters after the dot in a file name indicating a file type, MUST not be capitalized. In other words, it will let you attach screenshot.jpg but it won't let you attach screenshot.JPG

Thanks, yep that did it. I am such a moron.

Oh my, this sounds even more complicated than the current "game copy issue".

The JPG was set by a usual Windows program i used in a quick manner... sorry for using Windows but this is simply my game machine.

Well i could solve this issue by "installing" the game on the backup HDD... and then installing it another time on the install-HDD, but this is just more than weird having to use this method.

This must mean you have a negative "reputation" here. Not insulting you or your reputation, but if you look in the top right of every post there is an option to "rate this post +" but there used to be an option to rate it positive or negative. I think they got rid of the negative button some time ago (i don't see it anymore) but I see you've been here since 2011, so it may be that your "reputation" here is negative. There were spammers here downvoting literally thousands of posts, causing lots of people to get into the negative and that is why they did away with the negative button I think. And if you have a negative "reputation" you can't post links.

It's... technical.
In explorer, you can't create or copy files with leading spaces. The file explorer will simply automatically remove those leading spaces.
But the underlying filesystem can store anything. If a program (ex.: installer) creates files, it can do so without using functions of the explorer.
I think this might be a bug in the installer? Maybe someone at GOG copy&pasted inside the install script and accidentally inserted a leading space? And when you try to copy files in the explorer, it attempts to copy one file on top of the other???

Fun fact: in ancient days, software companies would directly modify a floppy disk's file allocation table (FAT) to create multiple entries with EXACTLY the same filename (ex: ########.###"), which of course couldn't be copied either using standard OS commands.

Yes, I too have that problem. I have to go into Windows and tell it show the full filename (including extensions) so that I can edit JPG to jpg in the filename.

ADDED: You can check your "reputation" by clicking on My Settings at the top of the forums. See screenshot.

Is this a error or a usual behaviour? It is not used on any other game and it makes no sense to me.

It seems -111 points, almost a shock to me...
I mean i may have been evil but THAT evil? Actually i was not very active in the past... and since some years we can not rate a post negative anymore... but this surely will never go away anymore, just to much hardcore.

Maybe i have to make 10 new accounts and give myself a + for every single post... stupid.

Still a explorer issue because i do expect the explorer to be able to make a EXACT copy of anything i want to move.

Game issue too... guess i have to make 2 instals as a workaround.

Surely, Windows is not fun for data management... to much restrictions. I should use Linux soon.

Should i ask GoG or the dev to remove it or is it not any issue?

Or maybe gog could just remove that restriction since they know this was an issue for lots of people. As I said, a few years ago there were folks who just came to the forums and downvoted every post in a thread, or every post by a certain poster, and that is what led gog to do away with the negative button.

I think that perhaps the issue of spam posts here tie into this. I don't know, but I'd bet the restriction to post links isn't a negative number, but ZERO or anything less to prevent spammers from creating accounts (with a zero reputation, neither positive or negative) and lots of links.
