Up to 80% off Read Only Memories, Tesla Effect, Pilot Brothers and The Samaritan Paradox!

The rugged trenchcoat, the fedora-fetish and the unfaltering nihilistic view on life are dead giveaways. But the real mark of all True Detectives is the dogged, borderline obsessive, oftentimes self-destructive drive to unearth the most uncomfortable truths against all odds. It is why we choose to celebrate these unlikely heroes in our Weekly Staff Picks: True Detectives, that feature four (almost five) secret-smashers at their best.

He has interfered with the execution of The Pandora Directive and stood in the way of the Overseer's vision. Now, legendary P.I. Tex Murphy, the oddly charming master of blind luck, must contain the Tesla Effect and try to rummage through 7 years of amnesia. Follow his post-apocalyptic misadventures in this unique mix of live-action video and free 3D movement that helped the loveable gumshoe achieve his enviable cult status.

In the year 2064 fully-autonomous, sapient machine assistants are as commonplace as the smartphone presently pressed against your pocket. You're an investigative journalist with something of a technophobic tendency, but that can't last long in a modern world - can it?
Inspired by Hideo Kojima's Snatcher, Read Only Memories is a point and click adventure across anime pixel-art straight from the 80's.

It's time we talked about the elephant in the room. Hey, wait a second. We need to find it first! Sensible Brother Chief and Brother Colleague, the Pilot Brothers, are definitely the right men for the job. But you might want to tag along, just in case they run into any trouble involving hilarious point 'n' click puzzles and tricky mini-games like the ones you normally find while roaming a cartoony, post-soviet world, searching for an elusive pachyderm.

Take out those notepads and be sure to write down that The Samaritan Paradox has also been spotted on the scene. But it will only qualify as a crime if you don't take advantage of our Weekly Staff Picks: True Detectives, going for up to 80% off. The promo will last until January 07, 10:59 AM GMT.

Vythonaut: While I'm not the biggest point & click fan, I can't miss what so many people recommend (thanks!) here. I'll make sure I'll buy a copy or two of Samaritan Paradox later to add it in my adventure backlog. :)
I'd be genuinely interested in how exactly this adding two copies of the same game to your backlog works.
Nice staff picks, love detective games!
Oooo... I guess now's the time to buy ROM :3. Sure - I have a backlog big enough to justify waiting until it drops down to absolute pennies, but I might as well support it for being original.
Let's just hope that's not the only thing the game has going for it...
positronic distillation of sub-atomic particles, then I'm gonna show you. Now excuse me, i have to watch and [url=https://youtu.be/ffUnNaQTfZE]this. :D

MidBoss couldn't even go to 50% the week after they gave their game away on humble for BTA.

LOL. Nice try, slick.
I have

Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure (i have under a killing moon retail so thats why i got it and also the rest of the games at sale, but its 3d so its no play for me)

The Samaritan Paradox
Pilot Brothers

There is Pillot Brothers 2 and 3 , I saw these on steam,
3 got a mixed/bad review and 2 was slightly better , but steam users first greenvote for all these games, then afterwards they 'destroy' it in a review / rating, thats a funny way of showing how they like a game :D

Anyway i got the 2nd game for a little 1.24 eur (thats incl tax) (sales) hoping it run without steam, but, no go it needs that awefull steam client.
Also got Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade : 1.49 euro(sales) (thats incl tax) this wont run as well
:D haha i expected that but i have it on old XP installation.

So basically like i said, most offers on steam are always shitty, so i just bought them for fun and its cheaper then a pack of sigarettes and it wont hurt my health, not even my wealth cause a donut is even more expensive :D

Maybe they will arive here some day and then i;'ll buy them here at GoG.

WesleyB: More people should check out Read-Only Memories, especially at that price.
At your local price maybe, seeing where you come from. ;) But with that CGA style graphics it's too much money per pixel for me. :P And I do not want to support developers and publishers which apparently try to fool GOG users.

Tesla Effect would be very tempting if it would have Linux support. But without it my money seems to be safe during this promo.

What have the ROM developers done against GOG users?

fronzelneekburm: Not to mention you could get the full game (plus a whole bunch of others) at a lower price than the price of the friggin' DLC pack in this promo...

i bought read only memories. 8.29 or whatever the sale price is, was fair to me considering what you get. isn't the gog product superior being a drm-free executable? i don't know. i'm sure the forums have worn this discussion out. anyhow...game looks awesome. i liked...not loved snatcher (...definitely not love it enough to spend the crazy $$$ to own it). some reviewers say that ROM has a social agenda though? that worries me. as a guy in his mid 30s i get enough social and political commentary from coworkers and social media. unless it's done REALLY well...i generally don't like to see it get serious unless there is a damn good reason for it. gaming for me is one of the avenues to escape all that.

Pretty much all good sci-fi contains social commentary. This one mostly has parallels with Blade Runner. Can you consider sufficiently advanced AI to be a sentient being?

The game does take place in a world with extremely flexible gender roles. That sort of thing tends to upset some people for some reason.
