Up to 80% off Armello, Aqua Kitty, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and Inherit the Earth!

Having a pet around the house is all fine and dandy, until saliva-free peripherals become a rare commodity. Or until you find your new pair of 5.1 headphones sticking out of the litter box. It would seem that cute, furry beasts and games don't mix well, but we've got solid proof this is not the case. Sure, things can get hairy when gaming around unruly pets, but try gaming with them and it's fun times for everyone involved. Especially when they are one of The Furry Few, the Weekly Staff Picks starring our cuddly co-habitants of the planet.

In the jungle of war there is always a lion. Or a wolf. Or an otter. If you thought human power struggles are intense, try clawing, backstabbing or weaseling your way to the throne of the animal kingdom as one of the eight Armello clan heroes. And while you are falling in love with the charming cartoon visuals and the sublime soundtrack, this tabletop strategy game with subtle RPG sensibilities will manage to keep you up until it's time for your dog's morning walk.

Dust, the amnesiac, death-dealing protagonist of An Elysian Tail is not one for words. But while he slices, dices and double-jumps his way through breathtaking glades, mountaintops and dimly lit caves, his chatty nimbat companion and sentient sword make sure there is not a dull moment to be had. Especially if you make a point of delivering death through spectacular combos, or discovering the awesome collectibles scattered around this fairy-tale world.

So welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games, everything you want and we even know the names! They are called The Furry Few and they are our four Weekly Staff Picks, going for up to 80% off. Nudge them out of hibernation and get ready, for they will be eager to play. And not always nice… The promo will last until January 14, 10:59 AM GMT.

micktiegs_8: sorry here's a source: https://wftogame.com/wfto-wednesday-129/
Specifically the comment by Noontide near the top.

This link tells you what they can't achieve with a DRM free version: https://wftogame.com/wfto-wednesday-122/

I also remember a comment from them stating that their next game will have no mac, Linux, or DRM free support 'as it's just not feasible'. It's in there somewhere lol.
edit: they wiped the comments of said news post, which is why I can't find it now. Must have been quite the argument.
ye olde chestnut:

when all else fails, delete the comments section!

it's like it never happened!

micktiegs_8: Any info if we'll get the December 10 update for Armello? Wait til the next one, I guess?
We'll be getting version 1.1.2, the 1.1.1 update was for Steam-specific fixes.
So, I've been tweeting at Epic games for the past few days trying to learn more about their position towards GOG. I thought it would be nice to see some more classic releases here such as Jazz Jackrabbit, Epic Pinball, One Must Fall 2097, etc. Unfortunately, I've received no response yet.

Has anyone had any luck in contacting them regarding their older catalog of games? Alternatively, does anyone know why their focus has been limited to the Unreal series in terms of classic releases?

In my experience, they are very good at ignoring such questions.

I and a few others got in touch with Dana Cowley (marketing) via Twitter; she has repeatedly said they currently have no plans to bring their classic games here. I assume it's because they know they'll not be money-makers compared to Epic's new games.

Also OMF isn't under Epic's control anymore. And I think the Unreals came here, originally, when they were under Atari's control? (I recall reading that from somebody else's post)

Well that's certainly disappointing, but I feel that a AAA marketing exec isn't exactly the best person to act as a cheerleader on our behalf since, as you mentioned, they're probably more concerned with selling Epic's newer titles. Still, I'm sure there are other people within the company who might be more keen to our wants as a community (of course, I have no idea who such people could be).

I can't help but remain hopeful that perhaps one day Epic will release their older games for sale on GOG and other digital storefronts. After all, it happened with some of the other big name studios! We just need to remain obnoxious and vocal regarding our demands! :)

I think it would help if more GOGgers made noise on places like Twitter or used

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_drmfree_minirevolutions; alas, many don't use social media.

Ideally GOG's sales data would speak for itself, but they aren't there yet despite tripling their consumer base (or something like that) since Witcher 3 came out.

Thanks for the info! I definitely agree it's in our best interest as a community to use social media to (politely) pester publishers/developers in regards to DRM-free releases.

However, looking over the list of DRM-free mini revolutions I noticed there was no such thread for Epic games. Aside from Twitter, I wonder if there is a particular place that we might post in order to gain greater attention from them...

I don't think they really have a forum for their "legacy" games unfortunately, though I suggested it to Dana on Twitter months back. https://forums.epicgames.com/forum.php
