Up to 80% off Armello, Aqua Kitty, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and Inherit the Earth!

Having a pet around the house is all fine and dandy, until saliva-free peripherals become a rare commodity. Or until you find your new pair of 5.1 headphones sticking out of the litter box. It would seem that cute, furry beasts and games don't mix well, but we've got solid proof this is not the case. Sure, things can get hairy when gaming around unruly pets, but try gaming with them and it's fun times for everyone involved. Especially when they are one of The Furry Few, the Weekly Staff Picks starring our cuddly co-habitants of the planet.

In the jungle of war there is always a lion. Or a wolf. Or an otter. If you thought human power struggles are intense, try clawing, backstabbing or weaseling your way to the throne of the animal kingdom as one of the eight Armello clan heroes. And while you are falling in love with the charming cartoon visuals and the sublime soundtrack, this tabletop strategy game with subtle RPG sensibilities will manage to keep you up until it's time for your dog's morning walk.

Dust, the amnesiac, death-dealing protagonist of An Elysian Tail is not one for words. But while he slices, dices and double-jumps his way through breathtaking glades, mountaintops and dimly lit caves, his chatty nimbat companion and sentient sword make sure there is not a dull moment to be had. Especially if you make a point of delivering death through spectacular combos, or discovering the awesome collectibles scattered around this fairy-tale world.

So welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games, everything you want and we even know the names! They are called The Furry Few and they are our four Weekly Staff Picks, going for up to 80% off. Nudge them out of hibernation and get ready, for they will be eager to play. And not always nice… The promo will last until January 14, 10:59 AM GMT.

Darvond: I'll...pass. But if you were to throw in Jazz Jackrabbit or Jazz Jackrabbit II, i'd probably be more ears, as the phrase of pun goes.

As a friendly slap to the face, I'd like to remind the staff that combined, the Jazz Jackrabbit series has over 10,000 votes.

And JJII runs just fine in Windows 10.
Welcome to the echo chamber, where we keep reminding the staff that Jazz Jackrabbit is a popular entry on the community wishlist!

Regardless, I will continue to poke the GOGbear until something good happens :D

On the subject of Epic MegaGames, I'd also like to be able to have a legit copy of Epic Pinball.
If i could buy Dust: An Elysian Tail and Inherit the Earth , but not now .
Any info if we'll get the December 10 update for Armello? Wait til the next one, I guess?
If anybody wants to respectfully (don't spam or be rude) let Dana Cowley (of Epic Games' marketing) know you want Jazz here, you can latch onto my tweet - https://twitter.com/tytbone/status/687494195926413312 - or let her know yourself.

The more people who show interest respectfully, the better.

lol. are they not even updating the gog version in tandem with the steam version? i gave up after they basically told drm-free people, "sorry, you're essentially second class citizens" with that hilarious release they did.

oh well. if this is the case, then that just makes me want to buy it /even less./

for those that weren't along for the ride:

armello released on september 1, 2015 on steam. prior to this, their stance had been "all platforms at the same time," but somewhere close to august of that year, they started removing drm-free from their developer blogs and the like. it was basically a case of terrible communication, because they'd made the strategic decision to launch on steam first and then worry about other platforms after.

i went back and forth with them for just about two weeks during september when they basically said: "it will release. it will be later." their technical reason for this was that they were "reworking it" to be drm-free.

my reading of this [and this is my reading - i want to emphasize that] is that we drm-free folks are second class citizens to log. over in gog's armello forum, they suggest that part of the reason they're working the way they are is because they want to test changes they make through steam, then push a "fairly stable" build to gog.

and that would be fine, except as noted here, folks with armello are /still/ waiting for the december 10 patch from last year.

steam are at 1.1.1 [as can be seen here: http://steamcommunity.com/games/290340/announcements/detail/764847937445949663 ]

i don't own armello on gog, unfortunately, so i can't tell you which version number we're at over here, but if there are people posting in this thread asking after 1.1.1, then i can only assume that the gog version is behind at least one major revision.

magog's log strongly suggests gog's version is 1.1:

We've got the 1.1 version. It's also a nightmare to tell if we've got any of the three hotfixes for 1.1, with the last being dated Nov 18 (GOGs 1.1 is Nov 20), as the changelogs don't match in wording.

I used to cause a fuss over these things, what with my list I had a while ago on here, contacting developers (after reasonable time had passed to do so), but I've just given up on it. I was beginning to consume the majority of my game time just worrying about having my games up to date, rather than just enjoying them carefree.

No, they said no straight up.
This was because they would 'need' to strip the multiplayer component, and people here wouldn't accept that.

i don't usually cause any sort of stir, for what it's worth. armello's probably the last game [in recent memory] where i've been curious about it and watched it and talked [once or twice] with the developers about it.

most of the time i'm perfectly happy to just shrug and play my games. :)

i love indie games and i appreciate indie developers, but sometimes they just drive the bus over a cliff and you have to wonder what's going on there :P

Ah, I guess I misunderstood. I though they were going to do that but it would take a lot of effort. :l

sorry here's a source: https://wftogame.com/wfto-wednesday-129/
Specifically the comment by Noontide near the top.

This link tells you what they can't achieve with a DRM free version: https://wftogame.com/wfto-wednesday-122/

I also remember a comment from them stating that their next game will have no mac, Linux, or DRM free support 'as it's just not feasible'. It's in there somewhere lol.
edit: they wiped the comments of said news post, which is why I can't find it now. Must have been quite the argument.
