Up to 80% off Armello, Aqua Kitty, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and Inherit the Earth!

Having a pet around the house is all fine and dandy, until saliva-free peripherals become a rare commodity. Or until you find your new pair of 5.1 headphones sticking out of the litter box. It would seem that cute, furry beasts and games don't mix well, but we've got solid proof this is not the case. Sure, things can get hairy when gaming around unruly pets, but try gaming with them and it's fun times for everyone involved. Especially when they are one of The Furry Few, the Weekly Staff Picks starring our cuddly co-habitants of the planet.

In the jungle of war there is always a lion. Or a wolf. Or an otter. If you thought human power struggles are intense, try clawing, backstabbing or weaseling your way to the throne of the animal kingdom as one of the eight Armello clan heroes. And while you are falling in love with the charming cartoon visuals and the sublime soundtrack, this tabletop strategy game with subtle RPG sensibilities will manage to keep you up until it's time for your dog's morning walk.

Dust, the amnesiac, death-dealing protagonist of An Elysian Tail is not one for words. But while he slices, dices and double-jumps his way through breathtaking glades, mountaintops and dimly lit caves, his chatty nimbat companion and sentient sword make sure there is not a dull moment to be had. Especially if you make a point of delivering death through spectacular combos, or discovering the awesome collectibles scattered around this fairy-tale world.

So welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games, everything you want and we even know the names! They are called The Furry Few and they are our four Weekly Staff Picks, going for up to 80% off. Nudge them out of hibernation and get ready, for they will be eager to play. And not always nice… The promo will last until January 14, 10:59 AM GMT.
Excellent: *Does the Snoopy dance.* :D

vicklemos: Uh, phew? :P
I'm definitely a sucker when it comes to rotten games ;P

snowkatt: you are in luck with bubsy then but you need 3 consoles to play that filth
an snes or megadrive for bubsy 1 and 2
a jaguar for bubsy in fractured tales
and a ps1 for bubsy 3d

and you know whats really worse ?
there are games that are WORSE then bubsy
awesome possum for instance cant even hold a stable framerate
but bubsy is just so soul less and corporate mandated he is made by a committee and as such can only be awfully mediocre at best
;)
Thanks for the info on that, pal!

Ganni1987: I really enjoyed Dust finishing it a few months back. Great story telling and graphics, well worth every penny.
Seconded, Dust is a nice game in between.
Looks like good games with good discounts. (Nothing interesting to me though, of course.) Hopefully there are some exciting unexpected releases planned for the coming weeks. (We know Darkest Dungeon will be coming which is cool.)

BrokenBull: Bought all except for Armello. Waited a while for Aqua Kitty as it was on my wishlist. Bought Dust because of the great reviews. I usually don't hold any interest for point and click games, but Inherit the Earth surprised me with it's deep story. I read that Inherit the Earth was supposed to have a more explicit story line about racism, but was toned down by the publisher. Recently Inherit the Earth 2 aka Inherit the Earth: Sand and Shadows has started development. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the sequel.
it was. then publisher meddling got the better of it. they saw "oh, you're doing a game with talking animals!" and their basic stance was, "you have to tone it down so we can sell it to kids." and that's how we got from there to here.

what we have is pretty good, but one wonders exactly how it might have turned out, otherwise.

i enjoyed it when it released and i enjoyed it again a few years ago when i replayed it.

WesleyB: Looking at this GOGmix, I kinda wish there were more than "few," especially Legend of Kay. Might be because GOG had the least of luck dealing with the publishers for this pick?
the pickings for anthropomorphic games on pc are pretty slim, sadly.

but yeah. i kinda wish there were more of them and those that did exist were on gog.

Luned: We few, we happy few, we band of critters....

(26 posts and nobody invoked Shakespeare yet? We are slipping.)

Not sure if 33% discount is quite enough to get me to bite on Armello after their delay on releasing here; will depend on what, if anything, comes out tomorrow.
i didn't want to voice it, but yeah. that's sort of why i'm not biting on armello.

This would definitely be a promo for me... If I didn't already have all of these (except Armello because the gameplay holds zero appeal to me),

So. Where's Jazz Jackrabbit? Captain Claw? Sine Mora?

More importantly than that, where the goddamn hell is Undertale?

a bit of a snip, but i hadn't done any looking around about this.

i'm so glad that they're proceeding forward.

i hope they get the game developed at long last.
Thanks!
Already have Dust and the rest are not interesting for me.

Inherit the Earth has an interesting development history. I'm looking forward to playing it. Maybe one day they will remake it into an uncut/uncensored version. It kind of reminds me of Orwell's Animal Farm by the way they used animals in a humanistic situation.
Here is the site for the planned sequel if you haven't found it yet:

thank you for the information.

i doubt they'll go back and "restore" it. there's been /way/ too much water under the bridge at this point. also, not very many of the developers are probably still around to get it back together in it's original state.

having said that, though, i'd be /very/ interested in the original story-boards and the like - i'm pretty sure that stuff is probably still around [assuming they kept any of it.]

as for the first game, it's completely worth your time - it does have issues, [bad maze-y sections and not enough /real/ development of any of the characters and only a cursory nod or two at the inherent themes on display] but given the publisher meddling, it's a rather surprising and thought-provoking game.
I'll...pass. But if you were to throw in Jazz Jackrabbit or Jazz Jackrabbit II, i'd probably be more ears, as the phrase of pun goes.

As a friendly slap to the face, I'd like to remind the staff that combined, the Jazz Jackrabbit series has over 10,000 votes.

And JJII runs just fine in Windows 10.

Generally I only bother visiting GOG at all to see if they've got Jazz Jackrabbit in yet. This staff pick is just a cruel tease.

tfishell: (We know Darkest Dungeon will be coming which is cool.)
And A Boy and His Blob.

Boilpoint: Was kinda hopin for some sort of Bowie tribute with Omikron in it. Probably already had this one planned though.
And if GOG could some how dig out the old studio masters for a FLAC soundtrack from the developers :)

Then again I do have Bowie's Hours... album in the CD collection and the reissued vinyl for Hours... arrived at my home yesterday. I had bought that online just before new years eve with his new album on vinyl. Just timing I guess. I'm sure a lot of his catalogue is going to sell out now.
