50-75% off Ultimate General: Gettysburg, Panzer General, Pacific General, Fantasy General… and Rollercoaster Tycoon

Generally speaking, it's good to be General. The pay might not be great (in this case you'll actually kind of have to pay to do it) but the perks, the perks are many. You get a cool hat, and you get to determine the outcome of mankind's greatest wars. How's that for a strong resume? Our weekly staff picks this week is , and all-around awesome - with five fantastic strategy titles... and [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/rollercoaster_promo_280915]Roller Coaster Tycoon up to 75% off.

Panzer General 2 & 3D are classics. No doubt about that. They sit among the greatest and most memorable strategy titles of all time. It's the grand stage and turn-based, hex-based combat that combine into the true treason for the series' success, the perfect strike: depth and accessibility.
Pacific General is a grand strategy as well, a spiritual sequel to the classic Panzer General series. In it, you'll return to the overhead battlefields of World War II in full-blown historical missions, and what-if scenarios. And if you're a fan of large-scale-hex-based battlefields - that same kind of game and feel also found a surprisingly comfy place in the unique steampunk-infused fantasy setting of Fantasy General.
For a different kind of historical aura, Ultimate General: Gettysburg is a beautiful looking, tactically detailed and deceptively simple title. If you're even remotely interested in war and world history, it's hard not to recommend this authentic strategy.
Finally, when you tire of waging war and its many pressures, take a break with Rollercoaster Tycoon - design your own FUNderland, pick your business strategy, and relax to the beautiful sound of children's laughter, and their desperate corkscrew screams.

Generally... it's five strategy titles ( and Roller Coaster Tycoon) at 50-75% off! The weekly staff picks promo will last until Thursday, October 1, 9:59 AM GMT.

Stream watch:

Tune in to Twitch.tv/GOGcom awesomeness as MegapiemanPHD takes on Panzer General 1 this Wednesday, September 30th, at 4pm GMT / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT in our all-new Staff Picks Spotlight show!

It's time to buy Ultimate General: Gettysburg! :-)
The main drawback for me is the existence of one map only, but I think this price is fair.
Enjoy this promo on some of my favorite games! (Got 'em all, but thanks GOG!)

Ah, yep, I feel (somewhat) dumb now. I just assumed it would be included on the promo page with everything else, since they've had no problem in the past throwing together in these weird "mostly one theme, but a lit bit of something else" promos in the past. I never even noticed its absence from the promo page. Derp. : ]

Money is money & time is.. relative.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg is great, just bought it.
Ultimate General is a great game. Still needs some work but the basics are there. Great art style and some great mechanics.

phaolo: Which games are the best?
I don't want to get all of them..
BUMP!

EDIT: maybe Fantasy General and the missing Panzer General 1?

You'd think someone named after Lincoln who also has the same birthday as Lee would be all over those, but those damn games are just so intimidating to me.

I'll have to think about this.

Niggles: Anyone actually bought and played Ultimate General: Gettysburg ?. Reviews mostly seem to be positive and AI supposed to be good but there is one bad review....
I've had it for some time now. Bought it via early access on Steam, then immediately bought it again when it became available here. An excellent game IMHO. Lots of replay value as well. Different tactics to try over all, as well as in each phase of the battle. Plus the other side to play.

While the General titles are some of my favorites of all time, UGG is easier to recommend following your statement. It plays very intuitively. Grab a division and drag them. There's a handy arrow that shows the path they will take - like on maps showing army movements in history books. A few short tutorials show everything necessary to know. I got into the game in minutes. And it's very cool.

Far out, thanks.

You can probably just install and start playing (basically what I did). One thing to note in this scenario, however, is that morale is a thing. If you repeatedly charge the same unit into withering fire and they keep turning around and running, eventually that unit will leave the battlefield permanently. :)

I snagged it, but I'm too damn tired to play it right now. :P

Now I just need to remember the last time I was at Gettysburg and walked along all of those battle sites.
