muntdefems: Hmmm... IIRC the "ship-spinning" maneuver was quite difficult to pull off with K+B. In fact, I was totally unaware of its existence until I reached a level when you definitely need to use it in order to beat it. Then I switched to the gamepad. :P
I don't know what maneuver is that, but I guess I'll find out the hard way, like you, and then I'll really have to go controller-hunting under my bed :-P

Thanks for the warning!

nepundo: Now I'll have to do the effort of not launching it again, or I might play through the whole thing in one sitting and the other games that have been waiting patiently all this time in my backlog might get angry :-D
That was the case with me too; I launched it for a while to test it because I was curious about it and I couldn't stop playing. Great gameplay & physics plus sweet graphics. Played it with KB+M and didn't have any problems at all.
very "explosive" pick for this week :)

Vythonaut: "Maybe" doesn't sound like an official statement in my book. Only "Yes" followed by a release date (or at least Soon™) is accepted. :P

Grargar: Maybe yes. Maybe soon™. :P
Oh, crap! :P
Decided to take the plunge and buy Bombshell.
Like a few others posted, I took a chance, said maybe it wouldn't be that bad, bought Bombshell.

I love action games, I love games with female protagonists, I love explosions. This game has all of that. It is also one of the most bland and mediocre shooters I have played in recent memory. It is akin to the Alien Shooter or Zombie Shooter series, only the enemies are bigger meat sponges and the character keeps getting stuck on random crap in the environment.

It is vapid and devoid of meaning.

I paid the $13.39 for the deluxe edition. For me? It's probably worth the $11.68 that the standard offers. Not terrible, not really good, just kind of there.

If you just bought it during the current promo, isn't it too early for any kind of "review"? How much time did you spend with it? And it may be worth waiting for the next major patch, before you continue playing.
I'm still scratching my head why you folks are all jumping on buying Bombshell. From all I've read and seen about the game nothing about it gives a terribly good impression.

omega64: The Ultimate version is on Steam that includes the content of both this game and Pixeljunk Shooter 2.
And it has a very noticeable uptick for the system reqs. Hm. All those fancy effects look actually worse to me than the original style.

Either way. Even if PJ Shooter on GOG is literally half the game 89 cents is a great price for what you get, regardless.

Luckily you can change it back to the original style anyway. ;)
Both Hotline Miami games and Luftrausers have been added to the promo afterwards, haven't they?

Yes.
Hmm, nothing for me from this sale.

Though I see some nice games, both HM and PJS and even Dyad. Already have those on other platforms. PJS on Vita is damn good.

I treat it at this price as an early access game, which has the potential to become pretty good, or may remain average after release (patch 1.3) :)
Of course it should not have been released originally - it will be very hard to explain to buyers that what they are buying now is not the same game that got awful reviews a few months ago. Should it become good, reviews from recent players will help, but what you find on metacritic can't really be undone. Word of mouth and better reviews from consoles may help though.
I wouldn't be surprised if the game was re-released under a slightly different title eventually, like er... Bomshell Redux :)
Something I don't think I've noticed happening before. I bought Bombshell deluxe edition and now that I check the Standard editions and upgrade option are shown on the store pages as me owning them. I always thought GOG had a problem with their system marking off the base games and expansions when you owned the deluxe. Now that I check Skyshine bedlam deluxe I own and the other parts are marked off as owned.

Perhaps it is the other way around if you own the base game and upgrade to deluxe then the deluxe edition won't show as owned. Still is the case that Pillars of Eternity shows as unknowned for me (I have the Kickstarter edition here)

I've put a solid two hours worth into it and frankly, if a game is a buggy, bland mess after two hours, how is it going to be astounding after four or five? That would be like me watching an hour of a dull film and going "But it might pick up in the last thirty minutes!" With games like Broforce and DOOM (and Quake now that I think about it) to mention games I've played in the last week, providing solid play experiences in that first hour, why should I expect any less from this?

As for the patch. I've heard about the fabled Patch. Maybe it'll improve my experience, but I didn't buy the promise of a game. I bought a game listed as finished and out of Beta. This ain't Early Access, it's a supposedly finished product.

And sorry if I'm coming across as blunt. I just wanted to throw my nickel's worth into the tally for other people to consider, especially since there seemed a lot of debate as to whether Bombshell was worth it. I would hardly call my thoughts a review, as when I actually review something, I put way more time and effort into analyzing my feelings about the material.
