What kind of 'beyond the sea' promo doesn't include Bioshock?

Shadowcat: I was more wondering what kind of 'beyond the sea' promo does include both Aquanox titles, yet fails to include (now that it's actually available at GOG) their predecessor, Archimedean Dynasty? That's a lost opportunity.
And I was wondering what kind of 'beyond the sea' promo does include Cosmonautica that takes place in space and not beyond the sea. ;)

Fairfox: :) Always tolerance.

Soma seems to polarize a li'l; Imma just not sure.
For what it's worth, it's at 4.5/5 stars here, and all the top rated reviews give it the maximum score. It's definitely a good game, and worth the price, but of course that's no guarantee that you'll enjoy it.

Did you play any of Frictional's previous games? At its core Soma is similar, but the gameplay has been refined, it's more varied, and I find the story and setting are much better and more interesting.

gixgox: Colourful.

IronArcturus: Interesting! So how is the gameplay? I've been reading that it can be a grind sometimes. Is there some kind of end goal?
A late reply perhaps. 'Yes' the game is a slow grind, it takes a long time to upgrade your ship and earn money.

At the time when I bought the game it was not marketed as rogue-like, but it is a rogue-like in every practical meaning of the term. The deciding factor is 'money'. For example if you don't have enough money to bribe pirates in leaving you alone it's Game Over, assuming you focus on trading. The unforgiving margins for failure is what makes it a rogue-like, together with the fact that the game only autosaves, and you can't reload anything should you die.

Even if approached as a rogue-like it's far too grindy in my opinion. Imagine playing a permadeath version of Elite Dangerous or an X-series game, to permamently die after spending several hours slowly grinding for money.

After completing a run there's nothing that carries over to the next run, unlike Sunless Sea and Battlevoid Harbinger for example. So all your grinding was for nothing.

I never got far enough in the game to discover if there's an actual goal to it, after a dozen or so runs at the game I finally gave up on it. Obviously I would not recommend the game, unless it has been patched by now.

That's too bad. Cosmonautica seemed to have a lot of potential. :-/
