The Weekly Sale: The First of Many is leveling up!
Joining the sale are the fantastic, retro point & click adventures from Wadjet Eye (you've got to try Technobabylon, Gemini Rue, and Shardlight) as well as a few true adventure classics including Simon The Sorcerer and The Feeble Files.

Our weekly sales are changing!
We know that you've enjoyed the loosely-themed Weekly Staff Picks and the grand Weekend Promos - we did too. But after nearly two years of fighting the good fight, it's time to morph into something bigger, stronger, maybe even better: our mighty Weekly Sale!

Launching every Monday, each Weekly Sale will last for seven days. It's a selection of games we know you'll love – but if you don't see anything you fancy right off the bat, don't fret: we'll add another batch of super-good offers every Friday.

Weekly Sale: The First of Many features games with plenty of drama and heartbreak, unexpected tales, and intriguing mysteries. Get right to it with the first round of offers for up to 80% off, including Overlord, Pan-Pan, Shelter, Leisure Suit Larry, and more!

The sale will last until January 9, 5:00 PM UTC.

Andrey82: Very good news and great idea!

Loger13: Thus there is no reason to buy the game from Monday to Friday, because on Friday, discounted games will be added more? And hence it is advisable to be purchased on Saturdays.
avatar
Andrey82: Why wait for Saturday if on Monday there is already discount on a game you want?
Because on Friday may add another game that I want and buy them at once both is more convenient and therefore a Saturday or Sunday - the most convenient day for shopping? С.O. to the rescue!

I do not mind, I prefer to buy once a week (instead of two). I like the change.

fables22: I'm not sure you understood what I meant. The games that are on sale from Monday on will stay on sale with the same discounts. However, on Friday, a new bunch of games will be added to the sale, which means there will be more games in the sale over the weekend. Does that clarify it?
Be sure, I understand what you mean. There is no reason FOR ME.
But, anyway, thanks for additional explanation. May be it will useful for someone else (who is really confused).

moonshineshadow: I think he understood the change pretty well. Because he is right, now that the Monday games last a week there is no need to buy anything during the week and one can wait for the weekend additions before making a decision ;-)
That's correct statement.

No offense! Additional information from GOG stuff is always welcome. Especially if news is so unclear, like current one (not for me, but for many).

eiii: And the games which have been added on Friday will only be on sale for 3 days. That's bad when you are on travel over the weekend. I liked it that you still could buy the games from the weekend sale on Monday so far. Why don't you put all games on sale for the full week?
avatar
fables22: No, it'll work pretty much like the Weekend Promo did, plus the games that will go on sale on Friday will be on sale all the way until the entire weekly promo ends, ie. Monday 5pm CET. The new weekly promo concept just combines the previous weekly staff picks and weekend promo, the realities of it remain very similar.
And the games which will be added on Friday are still only on sale for 3 days now while they were on sale for 4 days during the old weekend promos. ;P

Over all the old scheme was better distributed over the week, 4 days for the Weekly Staff Picks (if I remember correctly) and 4 days for the weekend promo, while it's now 7 days for the games added on Monday and only 3 days for the games added on Friday. Plus there's no need to check the page during the week now, checking it at the weekend is sufficient.
I like it that the weekly sale runs for longer now, but I do not like it that the "weekend sale" part has been shortened.

Maybe add the 2nd batch of games already on Thursday?

We'll have to wait and see how this pans out, but I'll pass your feedback onto the marketing guys.
Now if someone could give Codemasters a nudge to release Overlord 2 here.

My list of older games I'd like to see here is getting shorter.
Sounds like a positive change. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out!

They could release other games too...
Why was Second Sight pulled from GOG?

or some other games, that could be in GOG's library:
- Rise of the Argonauts
- Damnation
- Fuel
- Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
- Operation Flashpoint series (Dragon Rising, Red River)
- Clive Barker's Jericho
- Toybox Turbos

... and many others, especially older games (Prisoner of War, Dizzy games, Psycho Pinball etc.)

ArtmorePhD: pans
so pan + pan = pans? ;D
I wish we could more improvements to the site, Galaxy, long-lost game updates, etc. like we see improvements to sales. (I recognize these are completely different departments, though, and the first all take more time to implement than the second.)

BTW, Codemasters has a Twitter: https://twitter.com/Codemasters?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Does anyone know what's the difference between buying Shelter 2 SE and Shelter 2 + Shelter SEU?

Shelter 2 SE = Shelter 2 + Soundtrack

Shelter SEU = Upgrade FROM Shelter 2 TO Shelter 2 SE = Soundtrack

None, content-wise. It will look identical on your library shelf either way.

But buying Shelter 2 SE will mark all three of them as "bought" on the GOG website. Buying Shelter 2 + Shelter 2 SEU will only mark those two as bought. It's an irritating weirdness of the purchase system.

As MarkoH01 has already pointed out, the SE version just adds the soundtrack.
Hi GOG, just want to say that since singing up with you a few years ago, I have really enjoyed all the improvements large and small over the years and this looks like another good one for me! (I never was sure about what day the weekly & weekend specials went up, & keeping them together seems easier for me).
