Level Up!

The Weekly Sale: The First of Many is leveling up!
Joining the sale are the fantastic, retro point & click adventures from Wadjet Eye (you've got to try Technobabylon, Gemini Rue, and Shardlight) as well as a few true adventure classics including Simon The Sorcerer and The Feeble Files.

Don't forget – there are just a few days left to grab what you want!

One full week of wicked-good offers: Up to 80% off Leisure Suit Larry, Pan-Pan, Cannon Fodder & more to come!

Our weekly sales are changing!
We know that you've enjoyed the loosely-themed Weekly Staff Picks and the grand Weekend Promos - we did too. But after nearly two years of fighting the good fight, it's time to morph into something bigger, stronger, maybe even better: our mighty Weekly Sale!

Launching every Monday, each Weekly Sale will last for seven days. It's a selection of games we know you'll love – but if you don't see anything you fancy right off the bat, don't fret: we'll add another batch of super-good offers every Friday.

Weekly Sale: The First of Many features games with plenty of drama and heartbreak, unexpected tales, and intriguing mysteries. Get right to it with the first round of offers for up to 80% off, including Overlord, Pan-Pan, Shelter, Leisure Suit Larry, and more!

The sale will last until January 9, 5:00 PM UTC.

fables22: We are testing it out and will see how it works, especially in terms of the exposure for the games added on Friday.
avatar
Vythonaut: Sounds good enough for a chamge and I hope the friday upgrade will work well enough. I hope there won't be any "Buy-them-all-for-greater-discount" promos though -- these suck. :P
I wouldn't expect so. I think this has the potential to work quite well, but guess we'll have to wait and see :)
If I'm reading this correctly, the actual change seems to be more of the formatting and naming sort than anything else:

- the (known as) Weekly Stuff Picks will last all week long, and merge with the (known as) Weekend Promo;
- the (known as) Weekend Promo will launch as usual, but end earlier than it used to till now;
- the new format is renamed to Weekly Sale.

We'll see how it gets implemented soon enough, but I guess the purpose is to give people more time to spend their money.

What is unclear to me, based on this [emphasis added]:
avatar
GOG.com: [...] The sale will last until January 9, 4:00 PM UTC.
is if this is another change - will the Weekly Sale be starting at 16:00 UTC from Jan 9 onwards? Will it continue to start as usual, hence introducing a few hours of overlapping with the end of the previous week's one? Or is the first Weekly Sale a special case?
avatar
fables22: Oh, sorry if that was a bit unclear. Yep, it'll be added games.
avatar
PaterAlf: I'm not sure if that is a good idea. It will probably just make the sales more confusing and the newly added games less visible.
+1 I can't see how this won't be confusing
avatar
PaterAlf: I'm not sure if that is a good idea. It will probably just make the sales more confusing and the newly added games less visible.
And the games which have been added on Friday will only be on sale for 3 days. That's bad when you are on travel over the weekend. I liked it that you still could buy the games from the weekend sale on Monday so far. Why don't you put all games on sale for the full week?
Very good news and great idea!

avatar
Loger13: Thus there is no reason to buy the game from Monday to Friday, because on Friday, discounted games will be added more? And hence it is advisable to be purchased on Saturdays.
Why wait for Saturday if on Monday there is already discount on a game you want?

You can ask someone you trust to buy game for you. :)

Because 2 updates in a week are better than 1 update. It makes sale much more interesting: waiting for new game discounts, guessing what it would be next time.

No, it'll work pretty much like the Weekend Promo did, plus the games that will go on sale on Friday will be on sale all the way until the entire weekly promo ends, ie. Monday 5pm CET. The new weekly promo concept just combines the previous weekly staff picks and weekend promo, the realities of it remain very similar.

You've pretty much nailed it. And yes, the two sales will overlap for a few hours on Monday.

I do not mind, I prefer to buy once a week (instead of two). I like the change.
I'm not sure you understood what I meant. The games that are on sale from Monday on will stay on sale with the same discounts. However, on Friday, a new bunch of games will be added to the sale, which means there will be more games in the sale over the weekend. Does that clarify it?

I think he understood the change pretty well. Because he is right, now that the Monday games last a week there is no need to buy anything during the week and one can wait for the weekend additions before making a decision ;-)

I took as in he meant that the games already there will have higher discounts - apologies if that was a misunderstanding on my part.

However, the concept is not very different from the concept we used previously - other than the fact that there will be more time to buy the games that go on sale on Monday.

All in all, as I said, we'll see how this works out :) I personally think that it's a good move, but who knows - our users might show us otherwise.
All hail the Weekly Sale :D

mecharma: All hail the Weekly Sale :D
Amazing sale. Looks weekly but tastes weekend-ly (?). Best of both worlds.
Oh and yep, some pretty amazing games in there - and YES: IGI 2 is among these ;P- eh?

Yeah, it's good. :)

An interesting concept for sure, but it'll probably just make me ignore the sale until all of the discounts appear on Friday.
But, let's wait and see.
This is nothing like Steam.

I usually wait till weekend promo starts if I'm on the fence with some titles from the weekly pick, so this way I get even more time to think how to spend my money. I also like that fact that the sale will still overlap with the previous one, so I can easily check if the new stuff has something I'd like more, without losing the opportunity to buy the ones from a previous sale.

Overall, I'm happy about this.

That was pretty much the idea behind it - giving people more time to enjoy the deals. Glad you're pleased!
