Level Up!

The Weekly Sale: The First of Many is leveling up!
Joining the sale are the fantastic, retro point & click adventures from Wadjet Eye (you've got to try Technobabylon, Gemini Rue, and Shardlight) as well as a few true adventure classics including Simon The Sorcerer and The Feeble Files.

Don't forget – there are just a few days left to grab what you want!

One full week of wicked-good offers: Up to 80% off Leisure Suit Larry, Pan-Pan, Cannon Fodder & more to come!

Our weekly sales are changing!
We know that you've enjoyed the loosely-themed Weekly Staff Picks and the grand Weekend Promos - we did too. But after nearly two years of fighting the good fight, it's time to morph into something bigger, stronger, maybe even better: our mighty Weekly Sale!

Launching every Monday, each Weekly Sale will last for seven days. It's a selection of games we know you'll love – but if you don't see anything you fancy right off the bat, don't fret: we'll add another batch of super-good offers every Friday.

Weekly Sale: The First of Many features games with plenty of drama and heartbreak, unexpected tales, and intriguing mysteries. Get right to it with the first round of offers for up to 80% off, including Overlord, Pan-Pan, Shelter, Leisure Suit Larry, and more!

The sale will last until January 9, 5:00 PM UTC.

Two seperate sales was clear, simple and always caught my eye when visiting the store.

The only benefit of this new system is weekly picks extend through the weekend.

I guess i'll get used to it, but it just seems like a poor change to me.
If I hadn't come to the forum I wouldn't have known there were more games on sale. I don't see the point of hiding the weekend sale in the sale that started Monday. I bet a lot of people didn't bother, and just left.
Did they add new games already?
I still don't see anything I'm interested in so I'm not sure.
@ GOG: Hmm, just checked the promo and is indeed somewhat confusing. A couple ideas:

• Keep all the games in the same page but make a second box for the newly added ones (something similar to the "ITEMS YOU OWN" box). The total number of boxes will be three: "GAMES YOU DON'T OWN", "NEWLY ADDED" & "GAMES YOU OWN".

• Make another sorting option "BY DATE ADDED (PROMO SPECIFIC)" or something like that. I think the first idea is better since the sorting option in the second idea requires user action and it may be missed by anyone who doesn't use the sorting options.

GOG.com: (you've got to try Technobabylon, Gemini Rue, and Shardlight)
Don't miss out on the Blackwell series too; fantastic games & story!
As I don't particularly feel like going through the list of games on sale twice, I think I'll just start to check the sales page on weekends.

Is I.G.I worth playing? I recently read about the original developers buying the license back, so I'm thinking it might get pulled from sale eventually.

Also, Norwegian games interest me :P

eiii: And now, how do I see which games have been added today?
By looking at the list? They put the new games right after the games that's been there since monday. They didn't shuffle the list, so it takes approximately two clicks, if taking the long route, from here where you are looking this message to get to the weekly sales list. Only one click if you follow the link from the original post.

If you don't remember where the list ended last time, luckily there aren't that many titles on sale that it would make browsing through them that unpleasant :]

Only if you have the list set to be ordered by recommended, though. (Personally, I sort the list by title because I find it to be the most logical way and the easiest to parse.)

That makes sense, my mistake. Then again I'm pretty sure that it's not too much of a time investment to call anything a punishment. Especially when there are now 'only' 40 titles discounted this week without extra promos. I'm sure they'll take any feedback no matter how dramatic it may sound, though.

Vythonaut: [...] The total number of boxes will be three: "GAMES YOU DON'T OWN", "NEWLY ADDED" & "GAMES YOU OWN". [...]
Not sure how well this will work when one already owns all "Newly Added" games (almost happened to me this week), since they automatically get added to one's "Games You Own".

It'd appear that the newly added ones are listed directly after the first batch of games (I own all newly added games but one, and it's listed last). Problem here is that one needs to remember which title marks the end of that batch, if they've checked the Weekly Sale before Friday, and especially if they only own a couple of the newly added ones.

It'd also appear that there's no theme, so if one has already checked the Weekly Sale before Friday, they'd have to come back to see what was added - exactly how things were when we had the separate Weekly Staff Picks and Weekend Promo.
Or simply check only on Fridays to get the full picture.

Time will tell, but it looks like the new format inclines/encourages people to make their purchases over the weekend, and not pay much attention to the sale during the week. Not necessarily a bad thing, so long as we get new releases more than once during the week, else people have little to no incentive to visit until Fridays.

This may also have some impact on GOG Support; can't say I envy those working over the weekend.
Like I said earlier in this topic the new sale format is really confusing and not having announcement about adding new games to sale does not help either.

In order not to get confused I should now check the sale only on Friday.
GOG editing the 1st post and bumping the headline to the top is still confusing people. Business as usual, then.

Right, it looks like it won't work well in this situation. However you look at it, the problem lies in the design. *shrugs* Maybe if they use bold text for the newly added games or some kind of little sign next to them? Maybe the promo should feature all the games from the start and leave the "Level Ups" for the RPGs? :P

I guess that is the best course of action for now.
Not sure if anyone else has already pointed this out, but the new deals are all listed below the previous ones. Although the division could be more clear, it really isn't hard to see where the new games are.
