Some of the best prices ever documented.

It's a special day over here at GOG HQ: we get to see our faces on YouTube! More specifically, inside the awesome Noclip documentary created by Danny O'Dwyer, an intriguing story about who we are, our efforts to preserve gaming's past and future, and our ongoing mission to make all gaming DRM-free.

So do yourselves a favor and go watch it, but not before you check out the special Weekly Sale we put together to celebrate its release!

It features dozens of timeless classics including games that we helped restore: S.W.A.T. 4, Jazz Jackrabbit, Escape from Monkey Island, Forgotten Realms: The Archives (featuring Goldbox classics like Eye of the Beholder), Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Harvester, Outcast, Syndicate, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Theme Park and Theme Hospital, among others.

The Weekly Sale ends July 30, 10 PM UTC.
Great documentary, congratulations to the noclip guys and GOG; now I have one more thing to show to some friends, when spreading the good word of GOG to people :P

Also, great sale to go with it; I have most of the games I want from it (the only wishlisted title I have in there is TimeShift, but I'm not sure I want to get it; considering the discounts, I think I'm getting Singularity instead), but I'm not the only GOG customer, so all I'll say is that I'm glad new users and people who still hadn't nabbed some of these great games can do so, now.

It was really interesting hearing you guys talk about the ins-and-outs of the (hard) process of securing games, making them available and mostly compatible with modern systems and hardware, and selling them. I knew getting the LucasArts games was tedious and difficult, but I never thought it was THIS complicated. And it's so cool to see you openly acknowledge NOLF, and reassure us that you haven't given up on getting the rights to those games; it's probably my most awaited series if it ever gets on GOG, and even though I know the road ahead of you is a bumpy, sinuous one, this kind of filled me with a small sliver of hope that getting these games is a possibility (plus, remember when everyone was "so sure" GOG would NEVER get Bethesda and LucasArts on board? Yeah...)
10 cents short for GUN. Guess i will wait longer maybe.
high rated
I don't like the new (old) way of showing the games at sale.
Until recently, the games I already own were separated from the games, I don't own.
Now it's back to all the games in one long list, with the owned games greyed out...not as comfortable as before.

armitom: Yeah, its weird, been waiting for Pandora Tomorrow,Chaos Theory&Double Agent to appear for years now, Ghost Recon 1 is missing its expansions and Rainbow Six Rogue Spear&Ravenshield are nowhere to be found either.
Well, Chaos Theory have BIG DirectX problems so GOG team would have a lot of work to bring it here. In documentary there was story when they had to rewrite wrapper for a game. Looks like, if Chaos Theory will be brought here by Ubisoft, they might have to do the same thing again.

And first Ghost Recon expansion packs (Desert Siege and Island Thunder) isn't available in Ubisoft store. So I assume, there is some rights problems involved.

armitom: I can understand why modern uplay games wouldn't make it though (AC2,FC3 etc) its the uplay point system they have that could cause some issues with unlocks in-game, though a solution would be to have all of that unlocked from the get-go,
On the other hand, adding unlockables through Galaxy might bring this client to another level (unlockables in Galaxy version and everything unlocked in non-Galaxy version). In might make Galaxy more popular and interesting for some people.

PoppyAppletree: It's perfect About page material for sure.

I really enjoyed the documentary and I agree that it gives great insight into the company.

Enjoyed the video. Was very informative .

muntdefems: Hello, I'm a human being and I don't like change: please bring back the old weekly/weekend sales page format. You know, the ones where you can sort the games by different criteria and where the games you already own appear in a separate list. Thanks.

Also, I'm seeing some nice 0% discounts there. :P
I think it's just because they are also highlighting the video on the page, too. Usually there are details in that spot about a game when hovering the pointer over a game in the list. There's no room for that with the video there, so this is the other format. This reminds me of the format during the major sales when they group games recommended by online magazines(?).

The store page with the sales seems more useful in general, with its additional options for filtering.
Oh, about those mentioned situations with contracts giving crazy amounts per copy sold to actors or what not, seeing as those aren't selling at all anymore otherwise, couldn't they be approached for a renegotiation of the contract? I mean, assume anybody'd go for, say, 20% of whatever price for any number of copies sold over $20 for each of ZERO copies sold, right?

Or just lump sums.

I wonder what games they were referring to. We have the Wing Commander games here; were they talking about other FMV games not here yet or would it also include "voice acting" as opposed to actually appearing on camera?

(maybe Ripper b/c that has Christopher Walken and other celebs :P)

Command and Conquer series. That's my bet.

Very interesting documentary. I learned a lot of things, specially that GOG isn't pronounced /gɒg/ :P
