Carradice: Field of Glory: Empires seems to be a very fine alternative to Paradox games, with innovation. Anyone tried it already?

RafaelRamus: Amazing game, I highly recommend it.
Thanks!

ConsulCaesar: Civilization IV (at -75%) is enough to keep you busy for years. And that's before delving into mods. One of my top two games on GOG.
As I also like Civ 4, what's your other top two game?

It seems that there is the option of playing the battles automatically, or in Fields of Glory II. This is interesting. Like, you can choose to take command for decisive battles.

ConsulCaesar: The Secret of Monkey Island. ;)
Monkey Island is a good game. But I rather would have expected a hint for another strategy game. :)

Of other strategy games on GOG, I am very fond of Master of Magic. The interface is old-style, but its game mechanics hold up exceptionally well.
Since the Combat Mission games are on sale : https://www.alternatewars.com/Games/CM/CM.htm
Also X-Piratez has a new release : https://www.moddb.com/mods/x-piratez/downloads/dioxine-xpiratez-l7

With the style of Master of Magic I recommend Age of Wonders II too.

RafaelRamus: I own the game here on GOG, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Just noticed I got replies here xD But I bought the game, so no issues. Good to know it was simply a great deal :)

I'll have a look at it. Hopefully I can get into the game without having to read the whole manual first.

This looks much more accessible. I've already tried Shadow Magic a while ago, but haven't gotten too far if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the recommendations!
