Don't have it yet but it is on my wishlisht. As far as I know slitherine always updates and release their games here...Probably there might be an error with their base price , this is the gold edition which seems to also have all dlc included.

I've already shared some games I may be interested in (in other threads), but I'm actually open to just seeing lots of different games from small (one person dev teams) or small (few people dev teams) from steam just make their way here eventually.
Like there is this game called "Sipho" it's like the cell stage from spore, but better. There's also this other game (Which I can't remember the name of) where the player drives a tank around a planet and upgrades it over time with more and more blocks. All I know is that if I go to steam and click around, I see an endless list of random small games from which I feel like I would have a much higher chance of finding one game I really like. There's always that feeling like I'm missing out inside me when I browse steam and I'm like "wow why can't some of these be on gog". I don't remember their names though since I didn't want to keep looking at steam all the time to notice everything I can't have.
I just hope gog can add more games, more often like what's on steam. There's so much cool stuff I'm missing out on, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way. There are tons of indie games and similar things on gog, which I'm happy for the people who enjoy that, (and I'm not saying everything on gog is indie) but there is a huge portion of the website that I will never be interested in because it doesn't fit the type of games I like. This is fine, but then I can't buy anything because I don't enjoy anything available. I hope this helps.

To be honest, one simpy doesn't have the time, to check everything out. It is simply IMPOSSIBLE.
But I appreciate your willingness to try everything, that is possible.

Field of Glory: Empires seems to be a very fine alternative to Paradox games, with innovation. Anyone tried it already?

On the other hand The Order of Battle II base game is free on Steam but not here. Would give a huge boost in sales if it were, considering that neither here nor there the DLC are free. ;-)

Well, the free "base game" on Steam is nothing but the introductory tutorial campaign. About three scenarios, IIRC? It is really a demo that works well as a tutorial. A shame that it is not here, to be sure, but, sadly, not all demos are in GOG.

The base game in GOG includes the first campaign, the Pacific one. It brings some fresh air to the descendants of Panzer General: In themes: the Pacific campaign, and relevance of air/naval operations. Also in the mechanics: introducing supply lines, which makes things interesting. Recon units are prepared to be on their own, but other kinds of lands units will suffer if they are isolated from supply, until they are relieved. It feels way more strategic and less of a puzzle than Panzer General 2, for example.

A pity that there is no update option for previous owners of Panzer Corps for upgrading to Panzer Corps Gold. Nor does it seem that they apply any discount at purchase. Nothing. It does not seem nice to have to pay the price for the base game again... Meaning, it is their loss. It remains a fine game, though.

Thanks for telling me! There I thought Steam customers would get the full base game! A conclusion drawn from the fact that Paradox did the same with CK II which, obviously, was completely wrong. :-)

I'm very interested in this. As long as it is accessible without my having to study a manual the size of a volume of Encyclopedia Britannica I think I would be fine with it. Since you seem to be an expert would you be so kind as to give me some advice which DLC I should get and which ones I can safely ignore? A rough indicator how difficult they are on a scale of 1 to 5 would also help. :-)

I am glad that the clarification helped you. I am not an expert by any means, but here is what I would suggest:

Play the tutorial first. When you finish it, you will be able to bring some veteran units to the main campaign.

Play the Pacific campaign (USA side). It has a fair difficulty. You will be able to keep exploring how the scenarios feel more strategy than puzzle. Enjoy air/naval battles.

Then, DLC: Play them in the order that they were published. They are designed so that they add things that keep surprising you, campaign after campaign. If, say, you start (historically) with the Japanese invasion of China, you will probably find it tough.

IMPORTANT (or not so much?): In order to encourage players to purchase multiple DLC, some of them offer bonuses for other campaigns. It does not appear on their game cards, but once you have the game (or the demo) it will be mentioned in the list of DLC ingame. IIRC, the "linked" DLC for the Pacific theater of operations are:

Morning Sun (January 28, 2016)
U.S. Marines (April 7, 2016)
Rising Sun (June 14, 2016)
Burma Road (August 17, 2017)

The bonuses are special single units that appear at the beginning of specific campaigns, fun to have. Worth having for completionists. I cannot recall at this time if there is any bonus for the Pacific Campaign. You will find out.

About later DLC, I really do not recall if they implemented any bonuses.

However, if you can, try playing out the introductory campaign, see if you like the game, then proceed at full, er, at full Gas ahead, that's what I wanted to say!

Based on your suggestion I think I will get the full base game and Winter War first to get acquainted with the series. By the time I have finished tutorials and campaigns, I should know whether I should buy any of the other DLC. Until I know I will add the Krieg trilogy, which should be Blitzkrieg, Panzerkrieg and Endsieg? to my Wishlist. :-)

Glad to hear. You are welcome. About Winter War and the other German-centered DLC, I really cannot help you. They appeared later :) Personally I focused on the Pacific, which was a welcome change from more well-trodden scenarios.

In any case, the game generously allowed (probably still does?) to play the first scenario of a campaign for free, so that the player could get a taste of it and decide if they want more. That is for example how I tried Kriegsmarine, your fourth "Krieg" title ;-)

You will see if there are any bonuses related to the possession of multiple DLC. You know, these bonuses are special unique units, nice to have more for fun than anything else.

The devs chose the US Pacific campaign for the GOG release, and it's a good choice for a first playthrough, especially since you can import your force from the tutorial campaign. It's nicely varied in objectives and land/naval action, and not too difficult. Winter War doesn't start out hard, but mission 2 has a tight time limit and I remember having trouble with mission 4. Morning Sun is the earliest chronologically and also probably one of the more repetitive ones as there's not too much variety in unit types (almost all of it taking place in 1938, and not much naval action either).

Thank you! :) So far I really enjoy playing it. I was able to finish both the first and second tutorial missions and fulfilling all primary and secondary objectives. Finishing both missions didn't happen at record-breaking speed, the second one has taken almost an hour and a half, not necessarily using my troops in the best way possible, there's lots of room for improvement. Playing at the second to lowest difficulty certainly also helped ... *ha ha* It's finally a strategy game I don't suck at.

I didn't know that Kriegsmarine is also part of the trilogy so I will add it to the list also. :-)

As far as variety is concerned, there are likely thousands of scenarios never covered in strategy war games, modern ones that is. There are hundreds of old ones, Avalon Hill's, Grigsby's War series, Strategic Command World at War and others that may allow to play or set up theaters not already covered and play them. No way I could ever play such games! I wouldn't know what to do to get me anywhere past pressing the Start Campaign button ... ;-)

After purchasing and playing the Axis campaigns, I thought about Russian -> Allies (maybe the new one according to timeline) and the old one's in the pacific theater in case they become available by the time I got through the base game plus its scenario. Having found that on average this will take 65 hours, for me probably doubling that, it's likely that this newest campaign series is finished and released. :D
