Listen to the whispers, not the shouts.

It is believed that certain games hold such mystical appeal that secret societies are formed around them to protect their unique qualities from the unappreciative masses. Thankfully, they are not very good at their job. With little effort, we managed to infiltrate their ranks and snatch several of those cult classics to share with you in this Weekly Sale. Of course, it helped that several of our people were already members.

A pioneer of the FMV adventure genre, The 7th Guest remains a chilling, challenging, and fascinating journey through the creepy mansion of the eccentric toymaker Henry Stauff.

Remastered for modern audiences, Battlezone 98 Redux remains one of the most innovative RTS/FPS hybrids around, with a fascinating sci-fi spin to the events surrounding the "space race" of the 1960s.

The Weekly Sale ends May 28, 10 PM UTC.
Bought Ground Control 2 due to reviews. Can confirm that its closest game to Dawn of War, you can get without drm online (but UI is kinda weird).
Also its funny to see how such game runs with stable 60fps on intel hd graphics. Especially compared to modern 2D titles, that require dedicated GPU with 2Gb vram

takezodunmer2005: *Fuck you gog for having this sale this at the ass-end of the month! :) My wallet is empty! xO

*Not really though as I still love ya!
feel your pain. I think, I spent about half of my monthly income on games this month. All came to gag's old titles (while on steam for the whole year (not calendar) I grabbed about one game)

ciemnogrodzianin: Thank you for the opinion. Sound very interesting.
Have you also played Shelter 1?
I haven't. I'm more of a cat person than a badger person and I heard they are very similar games. If you want to try the game and can only buy one, I'd pick the animal you feel most connected with (badger for one, lynx for two).

The games are short and repetitive. I put in a couple hours. You can explore and unlock all the everythings, but I had what I wanted out of the game in a few hours. So I would imagine that either one would give you the enjoyment of virtually experiencing the unknown wilds as an animal.
A new release in 2016 is a classic? Wow. A whole lot more time has passed than I realized. I guess I had forgot the microwave generation was going to be a significant influence someday. Them kids' impatience snuck up on me.

badon: Thank you very much for the recommendations. I got the Ground Control games, and I might get the others you menioned.
You're welcome! I've had much fun with the GC series in the past (i still remember being in awe with the GC demo back then, especially with the fluidity of the motion of the dropship & units) and they're still excellent games!

The real difference between Shelter 1 and 2 is that the first is composed of real levels to pass, while the second is an open world. They are both very touching, but especially the first because it tells a definite story, while the second being open world is based on random events.
Qube2 is currently quite cheaper on Steam.

I wonder why such a difference...

Not cool, devs.

I have been enlightened by those facts while building my GOGmix:

GOGmix - Games that work on old low spec PC's - GOG.com

The new hardware and software tools and technologies the developers are using can't be very good if it produces worse results compared to the old ways. Very often, this issue is what determines where I spend my money. And, since I'm not spending my money on new hardware, I can spend a lot more of it on low-spec games. I feel liberated, in a way, because it conveniently narrows down my choices and a gives me a lot more value for my money.

And thus the microwave generation yields to the sous vide generation.

I recently discovered the usefulness of the "Historical low" checkbox at ITAD:

If I avoid looking at anything that's not a good deal, I'm never disappointed.

I decided to get both of them, and maybe in the future I will get Paws if I like Shelter 1 and 2. Thanks for the info!

???

I don't get it, why link to that site and what is the link to my critique of one same game being discounted differently at the same time?

Tallima: Shelter 2 now my mind (or maybe more accurately, my heart). It's not a game of play forever it anything, but it captured the emotional journey that many animals must go through as they battle against nature to not only survive for themselves, but also for those whom they protect.

The first time I had to leave one of my cubs in order to give the others a chance to survive, my heart broke for the little buggers.

The game's certainly not for everyone, but for me,, it was the second-most touching game I've played (behind Brothers).
Thank you for this information about your experience with Shelter 2. Also thank you for the recommendation of Brothers. I have that one in my wishlist, and I will watch for a future sale.

"Discounted differently" means the exact same thing as one of them "not historical low".

tinyE: Why are you so interested? Does it have the option to play as a Møøse?
If that was the case, I would have bought it immediately upon release!

Indeed, that's what I loved about the first game. Although it was quite linear, it never felt restrictive thanks to the natural flow and meaningful narrative of the events.
