i have to be honest thoughm the tutorial for wargame was not awe inspiring in any way
steel division looked a lot better but i guess
if your not really into multi only go for it if you enjoyed previous games or have not yet developed a prefered taste
"Make quick decisions and lead your army to the ultimate victory!"
10 subjective pick-ups
Banished -66% on this promo? well, as you have to be quick and smart to keep your people alive and grow to achieve the ultimate balance between your people and land they are settled on, this is the ultimate Real-Time Strategy for me. I`ve played this for months enjoying setting up new villages and connecting it with old ones. Then I have released all animals as I turned vegetarian lol and I was still able to keep everyone entertained and happy (lots of taverns and churches and forests), and even then, when I thought this is a game over I`ve discovered mods:
from Celtic houses
Milk from Cows
Legalized Marijuana
Terrain Farms
to Tree of Life
Banished Plus
Wildlife
and Mega Mod
I really did enjoy Jack and Jill starting conditions(screen attached), absolutely absorbing.
Once Ostriv is on -60%-99% promo I will buy it too.
Nexus The Jupiter Incident -75%
Craft the world -75%
They Are Billions -20%? nice game but too pricey. I really do appreciate a concept of zombies in games, like Plants vs Zombies (please add and sequel is good too)
Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries -80%
Seven Kingdoms 2 HD -70%
Space Run Fast and Safe Delivery -75%
Circle Empires -50%
Commandos Ammo Pack -70%
Commandos 2+3 -70%
there are HD project for Commandos and Commandos 2 HD both worth mentionig (as original still does `not work` in some countries after all those years, and remake and its price can be modded).

fish and peace ^

TentacleMayor: Unpausable RTS has always struck me as a self-defeating genre, anyway. It takes time to plan things out and if you don't have that, you can be reduced to cookie-cutter ''strats'' and patently silly things like Actions Per Minute. Such an absurd concept.
Quite the contrary. RTS meaning real-time strategy, the moment you implement pause, it ceases to be that. And even then it depends on how the game is paced. You have RTS games that are all about speed (Starcraft 2) and games where a good strategy is king (like Age of Empires 2). But a pause feature is reserved more for tactical games rather than RTS.

And anyway, you don't really have to care about strats and APM if you are playing only against AI.
I think Paradox still has a couple of older RTSes that could come here.
A lot of RTS/RTT are not on this sale.

I mean we get Commandos (which is basically an isometric stealth game) but no Warhammer games and no Ultimate General: Civil War?

IronArcturus: Has anyone tried Iron Marines or Vaporum yet?
Vaporum is a thorougly enjoyable dungeon crawler. It ain't no Legend of Grimrock 2, but what is? ;)

As for Iron Marines, I just dipped my toes into that one for a few hours. It's quite the fun mix of light RTS and tower defense. No real base building other than at predetermined capture points (bases). Nice big tech tree to boot. If you've played any of the Kingdom Rush games, some of it will feel quite familiar. Makes me wish for more hand-drawn strategy games because like Ironhide's other games it's a beaut. :)

Thanks for the info!

Also, does Iron Marines have any kind of a Skirmish mode?

Not as far as I know. It's just the main campaign and spec ops side missions. Don't quote me on that though.

Really? you just really said that?

I won't deny the multiple tactics humans can pose but as someone who's been sub par in multiplayer i can say that most opponents in the waiting room are really not any better then what the a.i. presents in games from siltherine for example or total war
I think I am going to get Loria and S.W.I.N.E.

Yes I did. In single player against AI, you don't have to study things like build orders, current meta strategies, timings or have certain APM to be able to beat it.

And it of course depends on who you play with. Just saying that you need to start worrying about the things I mentioned only if you plan on playing competitively. Against AI, you can roll with anything that works/cheesing it in some way etc.

Steel Division is the only RTS I've played where you actually need to reload your tanks/artillery by sending trucks. I wish more games in the genre had logistics and ammunition.

All good but i think i wait for the Turn Based sale with both RPG and Strategy included since i prefer it that way but also because my micromanagment skills are bad on a whole other level and building shit all over the map make me feel decrepit.

but you do realize your reasoning only applies to a certain part of the tactics/strategy games ?

forget the previous comment, with my reasoning i'm strolling out of the realm of rtsy games

and indeed there are more then enough players able to make it through the hardest levels the developer can offer leaving only those select view for play against each other...

on a personal level, maybe it is also because i chose to restrict myself to singleplayer that i've gained some other idea's leaving me a bit biased on that plane.. for people not willing to fight against others in any way the a.i. these days can, even if a bit restricted present a more then casual challenge
