I don't understand what's going on here. What a mess.
In Poland it's currently $7.11, which is -65% from regular price = $20.33 here...

IronArcturus: Has anyone tried that Elderborn game? Does it allow the user to save at any time?
No, there are save stations. When you die, everything respawns and you restart at the checkpoint and have to go retrieve your essence wherever you died.

Elderborn uses fountains as checkpoints and if you die the enemies will respawn. Still, I really enjoyed the game even if it's not very long.

True, but you can download a German Language pack that works with the GOG version. I used the previous version (V2) of this one a few years ago and it worked flawlessly: https://www.compiware-forum.de/downloads/file/186-sacred-gold-german-patch/#versions

Grim Dawn: Why not the Definitive Edition is on sale ?
Well, another weirdly named sale.

I only see 6 H'n'S games among the 22 games listed.

Depends on if you mean the Diablo-like genre, or just the action-mechanic of melee battle I suppose..
The latter being so prevalent as to make it meaningless.

RPG->CRPG->WRPG

RPG->CRPG->JRPG->Spectacle Fighter

RPG->CRPG->ARPG->
RPG->CRPG->ARPG->Immersive Sim
RPG->CRPG->ARPG->H'n'S

RPG->CRPG->Roguelike->roguelite

$19.10 for me, also (15.79 euros) lol

Ancient-Red-Dragon: That's a moot point, because that game isn't worth buying any more anyway, since a re-made & much better and way more complete version of that game is already included in the "Shadows: Awakening" game which is also included in this sale. And Shadows: Awakening is a very good game by the way.

idbeholdME: I know that (already finished Awakening twice). Just used it as an example of the pricing shenanigans. With that being said, I actually liked some things more in Heretic Kingdoms than in Awakening.
I agree, Heretic Kingdoms have a more PC-friendly interface than Awakening, whose inventory interface with lists ala console is awful and a mess, among other bad changes to be more console-friendly.

My interest for the first game is still there just for that, unfortunately the pricing is atrocious and even on sale it's a mess.

Edit: btw, the sale is a bit weird. It lacks some Diablo-type games that are on GOG (like Diablo, precisely, lol) but has other action-roguelike or souls-type games that are not even the same genre.

$16.68 for me, converted.

Also, yeah, lots of wildly different game genres.

Yup. Among other things I liked in HK more like:
- Day/Night cycle
- A short prologue which however provides very important context if you played Inquisition.
- Vastly better lighting system
- Your skill choices actually matter.
- Much more immersive healing mechanic
- Shadow realm looks much better
- Enemies don't flash white when hit but instead bleed when hit. I hate the white blinking in modern games whenever anything gets hit...
- 1 more active skill slot. Limiting them serves no purpose since you can freely juggle them anyway, just makes it annoying

And other minor stuff. Like how Evia's description mentions also being a sand mage, but having no sand related skills? Well guess what... In Heretic Kingdoms, half of her skills are based on sand. In Awakening, maybe only 1 (if you count Tornado as sand and not air).

I know all this because I already bought and finished Awakening, so I tried out Heretic Kindoms by... other means. Would like to now buy it too, but not with this pricing which is all over the place.

Niggles: Surge Augmented Edition - have the basic edition but wondering whether better to get the DLC or augmented edition?

Vikings Wolves of Midgard -- bit confused by the reviews on GOG -- seems positive except for the lack of loot?.
I was in the same boat with Surge. Already finished the base game and got the Augmented here for the DLCs. Still have yet to replay it though, but it seems the DLCs are decent.

Awakening DLCs - I'd say not really. Each just adds one location, sends you backtracking to already cleared areas to kill some quest monsters, you go back to the new area, use the items, fight a boss and get a new puppet. Takes like 30 minutes for each and the game already has too many puppets IMO.

Vikings - I honestly liked it. A pretty story-heavy aRPG. I don't think there's a lack of loot. You don't kill hundreds of enemies at once but it's a bit more tactical. Positioning matters a lot (for example, you have to flank enemies with tower shields), you have to avoid circles on the ground etc. One slightly disappointing aspect is the extremely linear progression. You just decide what weapon type you want at the start and you put the point you get on level-up into what unlocks in that category for that level. The moment you change weapon type, that skill tree is disabled, so you are really stuck with your choice from start to finish.

I finished Book of Demons with the archer character. It is an alright game if you are in the moot for a ARPG that is more on the casual side. Nothing about this game is too deep, but there is some reasonable variety depending on what cards you equip. I did enjoy playing this game, but I was also consciously looking for something that is on the casual side.

However, to make this clear, this game is in no way a deck builder. I was curious about that mechanic, but really, it is more like if all items and skills in Diablo 1 where called cards. There is no real difference between the use of cards in this game and the use of equipment and items in other ARPG's.

I bought Heroes of Hammerwatch on sale during the Steam Winter Sale. I too enjoyed the original, and Heroes was an instant buy when it came up in my queue citing rogue-like qualities. Unfortunately, I ended up refunding it because for whatever reason, they REMOVED couch coop in Heroes. So keep that in mind.

Wait, Shadows Awakening includes a Heretic Kingdom remake?

Shadows: Awakening includes what was originally Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms. HK was originally intended to come in 2 parts. Only the first got released due to publisher problems and the devs later released Awakening which includes the full story but also many gameplay changes compared to HK.
