It’s time to venture into the dangerous caves and dungeons in search of treasures and adventure! This Weekend Sale is dedicated to exciting titles set under the surface of the earth. Here are some cool examples:

Battle Chasers: Nightwar (-75%) is an action RPG based on works by Joe Madureira, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format.

Crypt of the NecroDancer (-80%) is an award-winning roguelike rhythm game where you move to the beat of the epic music from Danny Baranowsky.

Torchlight (-50%) is an RPG where you travel into randomly generated dungeon levels, with a huge variety of creepy monsters, endless variations of loot to find, and quests to complete.

Explore more games set underground before this Weekend Sale will end on 15th March 2021, 2 PM UTC.
To those who haven't played them, i recommend getting Torchlight and Torchlight II.

Same question about Torchlight II...

Have been eyeing this game for a while... I wonder if this is the best price this game ever got in a sale?

Also, Paper Sorcerer is available for peanuts. Quite a few great games here.

DSD was in 1 tier ($1) of Humble Bundle 1y ago. Except for that, the lowest prices were close to the current one.

Paper Sorcerer is worth it. I have to install it again and finish the game this time. A really unique game.

isthereanydeal is your friend! ;) Supposedly it was sold for $3 on GOG at one point, but no idea when that might have been (if at all). It doesn't seem to have gone below $5 in the last 3 years according to the history chart.
One thing I've noticed recently is the term "dungeon RPG", or DRPG. Does anyone know what exactly that refers to?

Some things to note:
* Unless you like to powerlevel (what some players refer to as "grinding"), don't play 1980's mode. Hard is enough of a challenge without requiring powerleveling, while 1980's *does*.
* The difficulty curve is U-shaped. It starts moderately challenging (with difficulty being a major factor) and then gets easy...at least until you start getting regularly wiped out by normal encounters. (In a "let's play video", there was one fight where an enemy used an attack that took away more than half the party's health, and then another enemy used the same move.)
* Status ailments are extremely powerful, to the point of being unfair (particularly if an enemy decides to put your party to sleep). Also, you may find them in monsters you don't expect, like the Minotaur, so you may find yourself with some useful status effect even if you don't plan for it. Damage over time effects are also useful.
* The game is a bit unpolished. Some attacks have the wrong stat dependence (I believe one of the Sorcerer's spells that does damage over time is based off strength rather than intelligence, or something like that, for example). I remember there being an optional puzzle that was unsolvable. (There may have been a required unsolvable puzzle as well that was fortunately patched.)

Thank you! This is an amazing tool! Wow. I think I can recall that super low price from a Christmas sale. I did not get it at the time due to backlog discipline... Not purchasing sequels of games that I still have not finished :-) Still, maybe I should have, seeing how that price is not going to come back for a while.

Thank you for the advice. Indeed, I like a challenge, but not artificially imposed ones, like having to get extra powerful with repetitive battles that are not conducive to really anything.

Some players seem to like it to enjoy the feeling of being powerful in some games. I find that battles that are too easy are excessively boring, so I avoid that altogether. If a game forces that in order to allow you to realistically advance, that is not really a challenge, more of a chore for the player, and padding on the side of the developers.

This, together with a rewatch of a certain evangelic anime, have sparked an idea for a new thread. See you there, if you feel like that.

If you play on a mode other than 1980's, you shouldn't have to stop and kill enemies just to level up. You might need to try some battles multiple times, particularly if you get unlucky, but the game should be managable.

Also, the game does have save anywhere IIRC, and most battles don't respawn once cleared, so you can return to town if you need to recover.

(Talking about Paper Sorcerer here.)

Nice to hear. I guess that Hard mode will be more my thing then.

kai2: Some titles have raised just a few dollars, but some of the cheaper titles have gone up approx 50% over previous longstanding sale prices.
On top of that comes a more and more increased regional pricing which compared to the US price meanwhile doubles the base price of some games when you do not live in a privileged region. Buying games is not so much fun anymore...

It has been on sale at $3 (85% off) in the Monstrous Fall Sale 2016. The last time it has been below $5 for me has been more than two years ago during the HOT SALE in January 2019.

I miss how GOG used to compensate for regional pricing. Now that they do not, I have no use for store currency. Before, every penny from compensations was spent on games rather soon, it was a win-win situation, it encouraged spending more on games, in the end. Maybe GOG does not want us to do so :P
