Up to 75% off TotalBiscuit's favorites: Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Pharaoh + Cleopatra and more.

Love him or hate him, TotalBiscuit is a force to be reckoned with. He's the guy that millions of gamers listen to on a daily basis - whether it's first impressions, reviews, or his trademark cynical commentary on industry news, ins and outs - The Cynical Brit's influence on a generation of gamers can be hotly debated, but never denied. Today, we take a look at some of his favorites, his top bites, the 30+ games that <span class="bold">TotalBiscuit Recommends</span>:

From the creative minds of Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and Josh Sawyer comes Pillars of Eternity, where adventure continues beyond the gate. It's a critically lauded revival of the classic cRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, to call it Obsidian Entertainment's spiritual sequel would be an understatement. Of course, that's not the only modern revival of old school favourites - Wasteland 2 is a sequel to the historic 1988 title that redefined RPG gameplay and inspired legendary titles like Fallout - full of multipathed quest solving, choice, consequence and maturity. Brilliant storytelling isn't just an RPG domain - classic point and click adventures like The Longest Journey or its big, action-adventure sister Dreamfall: The Longest Journey are known for featuring some of the most unique universes and best written tales in gaming. The list just goes on with some of absolutely top releases in gaming history including S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, Mount & Blade, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, and so much more!

PewDiePie and/or DSPGaming recommends <insert games here>.

OlausPetrus: Anyway, I find it funny that he recommends The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, but didn't recommend Dreamfall Chapters.
You have to agree that those games are quite different though. DFC is much more about choice (more like the TTG) than Dreamfall or TLJ. All good games but no need to recommend all of them if you may be not such a big fan of more or less choice driven games with not that mich game mechanics in it. I love all three but DFC hardly qualifies as a normal point and click adventure wouldn't you say?

Why is Pillars of Eternity on sale with all three editions on humble but not here? Bummer.

MrFortyFive: It's unsubstantiated and having popular, pro-gamer, pro-pc gaming voices in the industry is a good thing.
Not for them as they are probably on the other side of the discussion.

I respect the guy. One of the rare honest and down to earth Youtubers. His WTF videos are pretty good. I also ocassionaly watch the other stuff on his channel (podcasts are interesting and fun), but am not a regular.

Anyway, I think the hate is not generic, but some kind of a social pressure because of his support for GamerGate. That looks really ugly for the other side because this topic is not GamerGate related.

And I'm mostly neutral on GG and I tend to avoid talking about that. I'm from the part of the Europe that has more pressing problems. :)

Admittedly, TB has gone on record that he doesn't like "normal" point and click adventures, but I seem to recall that he liked, for example, the recent Telltale games (The Wolf among Us, Game of Thrones), which appear to consist mostly of choices and quick time events.

PewDiePie and DSPGaming in the same sentence is so wrong... one tries hard to be funny and make stuff for certain target audience while DSP is quite natural even when suck in games or make failures in videos he doesn't correct them, only making everything he wants organized in some way or another when you are streamer to prevent mess on channel that streaming might cause. ;-)

Actually i'm wrong, i was under the impression that gog had some kind of partnership with pewdiepie but i can't find it,i have this vague idea of seeing a news thread about him streaming something about gog, guess i'm confusing him with someone else.

I totally blame TotalBiscuit for only recommending 2 versions!!!

(I think it's from the publisher side, same thing for the regular version of Lords of Xulima not being on sale)

It was a joke, and I'm pretty sure PewDiePie wasn't in any news thread on GOG. I was just going along with what you were originally saying in that post you made earlier about a sequel to this thread, and getting a negative reaction that's just as much (if not bigger) than this thread.

Maybe, but as far as their videos go (commentary, progress, etc.) I find them both mediocre to downright terrible.

stg83: It is just unfortunate that some people can't just focus on the great selection of games in the promo instead of indulging in accusations against the person endorsing it.
Yeah, the behavior of some people in this thread is just disgusting. I just hope that GOG.com doesn't decide not to do this kind of thing anymore in the future, just because some people are flinging shit and trying to derail the thread.

Alas, to get back on topic: That is a really great selection of games, in my opinion, and a very broad choice of genres. There should be really something for everybody. Thank you, TB, for these recommendations, and for you're amazing videos, which I very much enjoy*. Don't let some trolls here bring you down.

If you guys only get one game, I recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Not only is it one of my favourite games, it also pretty much converted me to the FPS genre, which I didn't like for a long time. This was the first FPS I really enjoyed, and thanks to that I started to appreciate more and more FPS games.

*You should also totally do a new Terraria series with jesse and Dodger *duck*.

Dreamfall isn't exactly point and click game either. All three games are however story driven, but each shows the trends of the era when it was made and each of them have quite different gameplay. However I think that chapters resembles the Dreamfall in many ways despite the choices.
Man GOG I would really love an upgrade option on Pillars of Eternity! That way if you want the biggest package or just a step up from hero you can do it in smaller amounts over time, that would also keep any preorder goodies we have. Thanks for the sale otherwise.

Perhaps you saw MegapiemanPHD and though PewDiePie...

IIRC, PewDiePie did do a couple Humble Weekly sale selections...

Cyraxpt: Because people are free to voice their opinions (good or bad) about everything else, while we live in an era where it's "cool" to hate stuff (ex. the usual youtube comment "Thumbs up if u think Justin Bieber is a fag, lulz") it doesn't mean that there isn't valid complains against someone and i'm sure that even the beloved/hated TotalBiscuit isn't devoid of such things as you imply.

As for people that boycott this sale or even the store, well, it's their call but i would say that there is better reasons to do that, if someone takes a tour on this forum should be enough to realize it's problems...
I certainly didn't mean to imply that he (or anyone for that matter) is devoid of valid criticism, but my post was very brief so I probably should clarify that I meant that I believe his advocacy of a better PC gaming environment was something I thought the general PC gaming community could rally behind, so I didn't really get this seemingly knee-jerk negative reaction in the thread to his presence in the sale. Regardless, everyone is indeed entitled to their opinions. However...

...I have only a surface level understanding of GamerGate and absolutely no knowledge of what he said on the matter, so if that's where the negativity is coming from, perhaps there is some merit to it, or not. I can't offer an informed opinion one way or another since I know nothing about it.
