Up to 75% off TotalBiscuit's favorites: Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Pharaoh + Cleopatra and more.

Love him or hate him, TotalBiscuit is a force to be reckoned with. He's the guy that millions of gamers listen to on a daily basis - whether it's first impressions, reviews, or his trademark cynical commentary on industry news, ins and outs - The Cynical Brit's influence on a generation of gamers can be hotly debated, but never denied. Today, we take a look at some of his favorites, his top bites, the 30+ games that TotalBiscuit Recommends:

From the creative minds of Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and Josh Sawyer comes Pillars of Eternity, where adventure continues beyond the gate. It's a critically lauded revival of the classic cRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, to call it Obsidian Entertainment's spiritual sequel would be an understatement. Of course, that's not the only modern revival of old school favourites - Wasteland 2 is a sequel to the historic 1988 title that redefined RPG gameplay and inspired legendary titles like Fallout - full of multipathed quest solving, choice, consequence and maturity. Brilliant storytelling isn't just an RPG domain - classic point and click adventures like The Longest Journey or its big, action-adventure sister Dreamfall: The Longest Journey are known for featuring some of the most unique universes and best written tales in gaming. The list just goes on with some of absolutely top releases in gaming history including S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, Mount & Blade, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, and so much more!

Senteria: Let's not add fuel to the fire and derail the topic at hand even further.
You're right. This sale is awesome and discussion of it should be as well. :)

psumner: Apparently, "love him or hate him" is GoG's way of defending TotalBiscuit's association with GamerGate, his wish for someone to get cancer on Twitter, his contacting the employers of game developers if they don't like him, his defense of transphobic humor, and so on. I don't love or hate him--I oppose the endorsement of someone who relies on hatred as a career gimmick and encourages negativity that damages gaming.

In keeping with the self-described shock jock character, comments like mine prove how awesome he is, that he's a force to be reckoned with, or any other bland Mancow-eseque marketing line. One of the actually intriguing aspects about John is that he occasionally shows glimmers of self-awareness and even self-loathing, which might one day lead to a re-evaluation. Until then, GoG is endorsing a bad person.

TotalBiscuit: You'll probably be disappointed. People that post things like that rarely have any evidence to back up their extremist claims.

TheCheese33: Oh, I don't, TB?

How about the time you called someone a "f*ggot," then refused to apologize for your homophobic comment because it "nicely encapsulates" your target? http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/lgmn1/what_actually_happened_in_that_charity_stream_chat/

How about the time you accused Leigh Alexander of being a drunkard?

How about the months on end you've spent sending your hundreds of thousands of followers with their torches and pitchforks after anyone who disagrees with you?

How about the time you wrote off the severe threats one woman received because "she's still breathing?"

How about your open support of GamerGate, a hate movement that has viciously targeted my friends and myself time and time again?

I could just keep listing shitty things you've done: they run a mile long and at no point have you shown any remorse for the lives you've made more difficult. Point being, you are a disgusting scab of a human and deserve no glorification for your assholish attitudes and actions.
1) Why lie? I apologized for that years ago - https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/353561458098966529?lang=en

2) Leigh Alexander likes to drink, that's common knowledge, she's also known for drunken tirades on Twitter. My sympathy for her came to an end when she decided to mock my cancer diagnosis http://i.imgur.com/nT8rsqP.png

3) [citation needed]

4) Completely taken out of context. Addressed here - http://blueplz.blogspot.com/2014/11/delving-down-into-quote-mine.html - was part of a discussion in which I was discussing the very similar death-threats I also receive on a weekly basis and how online death-threats are statistically almost never acted upon.

5) Oh, you think Gamergate is a hate movement. Well there's no helping you then if you're that misinformed, as has been keenly demonstrated by your lack of facts in the first 3 accusations.

"I could just keep listing shitty things you've done" you probably should because so far you've lied, omitted key facts and acted exactly like the hateful human-being you claim I am. I'm not really surprised to see extremists act with hypocrisy on the internet anymore, but it is nice to show others around you what an extremist looks like and debunk their lies.

Here endeth the lesson.

mrkgnao: While I could understand this from someone who has been on GOG for years, I am curious to learn, if I may, what did GOG do in the past few months to disillusion someone who has been around since "only" December 2014.
The cold sting of seniority. I love it. :)

Belief that a pursuit of journalistic ethics and repeated condemnation of harassment is somehow "being part of a hategroup" is deluded. It is unfortunate to see that you have bought hook line and sinker into that narrative.

I apologized profusely for the cancer things years ago and as many people are aware it was a result of being harassed by 4chan during an extremely traumatic time as my family was being torn apart. The lack of sympathy from people like yourself indicates that you might not have the moral character you claim to have.

"employers". There was one incident, which was resolved a long time ago, in which my PR guy contacted the PR guy of a firm as a result of one of its employees going apeshit over Twitter and causing us professional problems. This is by the way how you do things as a professional, you contact the right people to get the issue resolved. Hatchet was buried with Shawn a long time ago on this topic.

As for transphobic humor, my defense of it is that it wasn't transphobic humor and even if it could be interpreted that way, it made sense within the narrative of an extremely prejudiced and unpleasant fantasy world. Not a particularly difficult concept to grasp and at no point did anyone ever appoint you judge of what is and is not acceptable in comedy.

Hatred as a career gimmick? If over 6 years of career has only yielded you a couple of tweets for evidence then that's not much of a career gimmick.

"self-described shock jock character" - [citation needed]

What I find interesting from all of these things is that people love to label others as "bad people" and "hateful", yet they demonstrate, despite claiming otherwise, obvious hatred and the "bad" characteristic of lies by omission and misrepresentation of character.

I knew there were people on this site (as well as others) that didn't like TotalBiscuit, but I didn't know there was that much hatred towards him.

I'm so happy to see Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams on that list! It's an awesome game and if you don't own it by now, get it!

And please spare a vote for another Black Forest game to come to GOG - Dieselstörmers!

I'm also curious, why the mistrust. I have a huge game catalogue from GOG and there haven't been any issues with transactions or with my library. I have even managed to get support when needed.
Pillars of Eternity is tempting me... best sale i have seen so far. I wonder if I should hold out longer for an even better one later this year

Same here. I'm just not sure yet... I haven't finished Divinity: Original Sin yet nor have I actually really started with The Witcher 3. *shame*

Well like anywhere else on the internet there are people that appreciate his work while others are indifferent and a few are misinformed as well as blinded by one-sided stories from other so called professionals in the industry.

It is unfortunate that some people can't just focus on the great selection of games in the promo instead of indulging in accusations against the person endorsing it.

I some how knew this kind of reaction was gonna happen...
Anyways thank you TB for the recommendations. I was finally able to get Sea Dogs in my collection.
@TotalBiscuit: Glad to see you posting here so I can tell you that I really love your reviews of games and the way you are doing them. I also like that you mostly try to be objective which imo is very rare these days.

Also I have to tell you that there is no Dreamfall 2 (as mentioned in the video).
There is only "The Longest Journey", "Dreamfall" and the episodic "Dreamfall Chapters" (which is not on sale afaik). And since "Dreamfall" is not a real sequel of "The Longest Journey", calling this game Dreamfall might be misleading. The Story of "The Longest Journey" will (hopefully) one day be conclueded in a planned sequel "The Longest Journey: Home".

Regarding the sales: nothing for me which would interest me and which I don't already own :(

Starting is the hardest part. I just got off Dead State which is roughly another 60 hours. These games are like the long jump, we need a run-up.
