Two strategy/RPG powerhouses in one mega-promo: up to 80% off almost every Stardock and Paradox game!

Usually, when you're told that you're going to be sharing some space with a person you've never met, the first things you wonder are whether you two will be compatible and if they own a handheld console. But every once in awhile, the match ends up being so perfect that you feel like it should had happened long ago. When Stardock meets Paradox, this is exactly the vibe you'll get as you're browsing through their combined list of games and look at the sweet discounts we put on them.

Coming hot from the Kickstarter oven, Pillars of Eternity delivered this "modern classic" vibe that fans of the isometric RPGs of yore were craving. And it did it with the gusto and confidence we have come to expect from Obsidian.

The enormous scale and sandbox qualities of the <Galactic Civilizations games are what set them apart, but it's Stardock's commitment to constantly improving and expanding their potential that has grabbed the attention of all known species in the galaxy.

When Stardock meets Paradox you know you're in for a real treat. It's a great list of quality strategy/RPGs that should be on everyone's collection, like Sins of a Solar Empire, Hearts of Iron II, Majesty Gold, Sorcerer King, and many more, going for up to 80% off. The promo will last until April 19, 3:59 AM UTC.
By the way be aware that Sins of a Solar Empire hadn't got the latest patch, therefore weapon sonuds are not playing currently in the game.

Hopefully they will release the "beta" patch currently in the steam that fixes this issue soon.

Hopefully.

I still don't see wth in Pillars of Eternity makes it worth the price, even at discount??? Basically looks like a BG:EE clone with MAYBE a little more too it. Somebody tell me what I am truly missing here...
Nice selection, GOG. I'll bite a game or two from Paradox...

cyboff: but Stellaris is missing ... :(
Of course, Paradox started preorders in their own store only yesterday.
Picked up For the Glory -- seems to run perfectly on my Linux setup, using Wine 1.8. :-)
I'll have to give these titles some thought. I've never played a grand strategy game before so most Paradox titles have always looked overwhelming to me. If I were to try one, is there one in particular that's ideal for a newcomer? :)

The first I played (and that I still love to play) was Europa Universalis II. I always found it accessible while being deep and fascinating. So if you want to go in the genre and have limited budget, it would be a nice beginning point (or For the Glory, who seems to be the same "a little bit upgraded").
But may be it's only nostalgia, I'm not a "good player" in these games, even if I love them a lot :)

Too many good games in this promo. I have to resist! This is getting a hard weekend ...

muntdefems: I think that the Linux version should come to GOG so I could buy it, but I guess Paradox doesn't want my money. :\

Splatsch: XD
I see. It's a shame to see that Linux still doesn't get more support :/ (and I'm sorry for all linux users :S)

Concerning the game itself, any opinion ?
Its one of the best mass transport simulations available at the moment. It allows you to set up your bus/tram/train/subway and river ship lines as you wan't to. There is a big number of vehicles to choose from depending on the era and the demand on your lines. Its very important how you set up your stops so that you transport the citizens to points of interest. Example from low residental to high commercial, etc. I very much recommend the game in collection version since it includes dlc with a lot of new cities and new vehicles.

Edit:
Also you can play campaigns, scenarios or just sandbox games on any of the cities in the game.

Do the passengers have source and destination like in Simutrans or is there only a sum calculation of passengers like in Transport Tycoon?

They have source and destination (actually several destinations queued up). I basically set up a line based on my knowledge of Muenchen and it was very much realistic bound on actual places/monuments.

But you do not need to know their destination since several overlays show you where there is high residental zone (green colour) and which means there is big need for a stop there. Same for industrial/recreational/marketing and several others.

So in the picture you can see the persons home, working place, where she is departing from and where she is going and what kind transportation she is using. Fact is that if you don't satisfy their transportation needs the passengers will just use cars :)

Again Pillars of Eternity being on sale without including the DLCs. Why cant you even put them on 20% or something? :(
"Stardock meets Paradox" - So, Stardox, then? :)

Got that damn GOG quirk with the Cities in Motion Collection, as I own the parts but the game itself isn't shown as owned. (Great price, though.) And I get the same bug in reverse with Fallen Enchantress, where I own the Ultimate but the upgrades aren't shown as owned. Glitchty business.

Picking these up though, tasty deals:

For The Glory: A Europa Universalis Game
Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game
Galactic Civilizations III - Precursor Worlds DLC

Ta GOG!
