Up to 80% off Rise of the Triad (2013), F.E.A.R. Platinum, Mortal Kombat, Unreal Tournament, and more!

Shooters, slashers, guts and gory! Crazy insane or insane crazy, when we say promo, you say frenzy - it's a true seasonal May(hem) with the biggest guns, bloodiest gibs, and deals from 50-80% off! May we cause ALL the chaos this weekend.

If we're talking insanity, then F.E.A.R. Platinum is where we should start: a mindbending threat and badass slowmo combos come together for that perfect blend of "I don't know what I'm doing, but I ain't stopping." If we're talking frantic - then the fast and precise Unreal Tournament games are there to scratch the old-school itch whether you're in it for the gibs or the glory. Coincidentally, if you look up "gory" in the dictionary you'll find a picture of Mortal Kombat next to a severed spine - go ahead, it's a fine way to set the weekend promo mood.

Finally, since we're on the topic of mayhem, then we can't help but think Rise of the Triad 2013: unapologetically old-school, it's the only modern, moddable, multiplayer and mayhem filled title that connects players across both Steamworks and GOG Galaxy. With the latest update (live now!), there's no better time to get weird, get wild and GET LUDICROUS.

All that and more, including SiN Gold, Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000, Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Shadow Warrior and so much more, are here to cause every kind of unseemly circumstance and the ultimate May(hem). 25 games at 50-80% off are on sale until Tuesday, May 26, 3:59 AM GMT.

nightcraw1er.488: Unfortunately its killed any interest in getting the game from my side. It does actually state on the game page (for DD):
"This game does not include LAN play, but includes brand new multiplayer mode with user matchmaking. To access it please login into your GOG.com account in the game launcher. The launcher is not required for single-player and can be uninstalled at any time. "
And yes, you can uninstall it, but why not put it as an optional install in the first player. I don't want client software on my system.
Now that I have Double Dragon Trilogy, I also decided to install it and see whether this was the case. The answer is nope, not anymore. Just like Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000 and Rise of the Triad, the Galaxy launcher is no longer included in the installation. The page's info is now outdated.

KasperHviid: In single-player mode, which Shadowgrounds game are the best?

The sequel gives most data for the same price:
SHADOWGROUNDS -- 798.3 MB
SHADOWGROUNDS SURVIVOR -- 1.2 GB

The original wins on votes:
SHADOWGROUNDS -- 4 stars (227 votes)
SHADOWGROUNDS SURVIVOR -- 3½ stars (59 votes)

And are they worth playing for a singleplayer hardliner like me? Co-op implementation mostly comes at the cost of an inferior single player experience.
if you really think filesize maketh a game, you're asking the wrong forum. does having more data somehow give you a hard-on???

to which games is the shadowgrounds series comparable?
Nice weekend sale! Thanks GOG.
Bought Unreal Tournament, Blood and Rune Classic! Now waiting for Thief and Deus Ex sale to complete my “FPS” NOSTALGIA LIBRARY, hehe.

By the way,
1. How's Bloodrayne 2? Loved the first one, but looking at screenshots second one looks kinda different (in terms of visual atmosphere), is it still as good as the Bloodrayne 1?
2. How's UT 2004? Again, loved the original UT and Unreal, but didn't played much 2004's version. Worth checking out?

tfishell: Dang, looks like I'll be grabbing four games! :) (almost 5 but I decided against Bloodrayne) Great sale from my perspective.

Pond86: You should get BloodRayne. Great game. (Get BloodRayne 2 whilst your at it too.)
Agreed. At the very least get the first one, it's quite good. The second can wait.

1. BloodRayne 2 is fun, but an almost entirely different game than the first one. While the original was basically a knock-off of Max Payne with a focus on melee combat, BR 2's gameplay is very reminiscent of Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time. Almost entirely melee combat with quite a bit of platforming and "puzzle" solving thrown in. It gets a bit repetitive at times and is monstrously hard, but the cathartic bloodshed and somewhat interesting story make up for that. It actually is a much more violent game than the first, if you can believe that.
Overall, it's a bit weaker than BR1, though.
However, beware: It's kind of buggy and I had to play at least one lenghty section twice because of that.

2. UT 2004 is awesome. It's a bigger and flashier version of the classic UT with lots of game modes, mutators and weapons. The basic gameplay is still more or less the same, but they put more emphasis on giving it a true "deadly future sport" atmosphere, akin to Smash TV or the movie Death Race 2000.

Both Shadowgrounds titles are likely build the same way - so more data indicates that there is crammed more content in the sequel.

Also, acquiring data gives me an massive boner.

deshadow52: Purchased Mortal Kombat Trilogy and trying to get it to work with a controller is next to impossible. I am a mixture of angry and defeated right now.
Dude, always read the reviews.
Also, it's not the Trilogy version, I think.

It indeed isn't. Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a single game, comprising almost everything from Mortal Kombat 1 to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and more.
nice promo, fear is a no brainer ;)
thanks

Thanks for the answer! I think I'll skip Bloodrayne 2 for now then, and just pick up UT2014.

Sashh: That promo graphic reminded me how badly GOG needs to have DOOM... goddamit Bethesda.
Agreed...I keep hoping it will come here since I really want to try that Brutal Doom mod.
Can anyone confirm if Rune has bot multiplayer like unreal tournament does or is it lan/internet online?
So the prices have risen, again ... OK.
