Make some time for timeless classics: 60% off gems like the Ultima series, Dungeon Keeper Gold, and Jade Empire, or 85% off the whole package!

If you've been a gamer for more than one month, chances are you've already crossed paths with Electronic Arts by now. It's no coincidence, since their catalog is choke-full of (still unsurpassed) classics from any genre imaginable: Looking for a deep strategic experience? A point'n'click adventure that fans still hold dear to this day? Epic RPGs revered by enthusiasts for their groundbreaking mechanics and impeccable execution? They're all here - pick the ones you missed for -60% or grab the entire selection for an unbeatable -85%!

Trailblazing, ambitious, hardcore: there are plenty of reasons why the Ultima games are still considered to be among the few landmark RPGs that withstood the test of time, thanks to their staggering attention to detail, innovative mechanics, and immersive world.

Can one of the best asian-themed action/RPGs of all time come from a western developer? Sure can, if it's Bioware we're talking about. Their Jade Empire won everyone over with its exotic locales, enchanting mysticism, intriguing character development, and fast-paced combat.

Now, how many fairytales let you play as the villain? And that's only one of the reasons why the often whimsical, occasionally twisted, and consistently magical Kyrandia series is still remembered fondly by point'n'click lovers everywhere.

Take a glance at the Electronic Arts collection and you'll immediately spot at least four classics. Take another and they're now a dozen! So go ahead and pick the ones you prefer for 60% off: Syndicate Plus, Theme Hospital, Crusader: No Remorse, Nox, or any of the others. Grab them all at once and it's 85% off!
The promo will last until October 11, 3:59 AM UTC.

Maighstir: American McGee's? That'd probably be a full-price purchase from me.

igrok: No love for Desert Strike?
Now that you mention it, I think I remember the title, but I don't think I actually played the game. So on that basis, no, I don't have any love for Desert Strike. Or any hate for that matter, as I can't judge it before experiencing it.

Thanks :) Didn't know that.

Ashnak: I don't like this promo. 59% on games that were already on sale for less more than once is not appealing, and this whole "buy all to get a reasonable discount" scheme stinks.
I couldn't agree more. Of the games I don't own there are maybe only one or two left that I would like to buy. But unless I buy all the games then the discount drops. Simply out of principle I won't buy these few games when the discounts are served up like this and the decent larger discount isn't offered as fixed to all.
I decided to buy remaining game as a gift code. I will decide later which of them I will add to my library and which will be gifted and/or traded
Added the Ultima 1-6 games to my collection.
I'll start with the very first game tonight, and plan on playing through games 1 to 8.
The last game on GOG, Ultima 9, has not found its appeal with me yet.

Post_edit: nevermind, I saw some actual gameplay videos of Ultima 9 and it looked fun, reminded me of Gothic and Risen more than Ultima ... but it still looked fun nonetheless. So I got the last one as well.

So a good weekend haul for me, Ultima 1-9 and Ultima Underworld 1-2.

I already own all games in this promo so my wallet remains closed. :D
This sale had great timing because during the back to school sale I discovered that contrary to my belief I didn't own Ultima VIII or the Ultima Underworld games. I now do own them and grabbed Jade Empire and Lands of Lore III as well.

skeletonbow: Actually, believe it or not Marcin Iwinski suggested jokingly in a video interview several years ago that GOG might have to do an "anti-sale" sometime to stop people from spending all of their money on games due to the success of one of GOG's previous promos. [...]
avatar
skeletonbow: I googled around and believe it or not, I actually found reference to the anti-sale LOL

Yes, I remember that (I think I originally read about it here) and I do kind of agree with the overall sentiment they were expressing there. While the cheapskate collector in me greatly appreciates the heavy discounts, they do seem to serve in creating a mindset that's rather detrimental to the industry and the games themselves.

I did just as you. I was missing some game but I have little interest in economic simulators so I might exchange them.
Is it in the rules to exchange GOG games on the forum?

They technically don't endorse it, but at the same time, they're not going to stop you from doing it. So basically, when trading, you're doing it at your own risk. There's quite a few scammers out there.

Personally, I'd advise either only trading with people you know/somewhat prominent forum members, or, if you've never seen them before, make sure they hand over their codes first.

Those were on sale last week.

picheleiro: Although Linux gamer is a little bit an oxymoron
avatar
Cecco: And why? I think Linux is exactly where the gaming world is going. Oh, and Android and Steam OS are Linux even if not GNU/Linux.

picheleiro: *Official Linux gamer seal of disapproval*

Cecco: I used to think that, then I have found many times that the Linux installer is not worth having if it's just a SCUMMVM or DosBox wrap. I prefer using my own software to run it.
Sometimes the Linux version won't run and I will play the Windows version through Wine. So, what matters is enjoying our games.
For example, just today I installed Zandronum for Linux and gave it the WAD file from the "Windows" installer. I'm talking of Doom of course. Who cares if it does not say Linux. Lot, lot of fun and Strife will run there too.
I like to think that some Linux users are a little bit like computer vegans. We endure some hardship for morals (although for me have more advantages than disadvantages). I cannot play lots of games and in the future I will need to leave Whatsapp too.

I am a filthy meat-eater by the way.
