66% off Arcanum, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, Gabriel Knight, Vampire: The Masquerade, Space Quest and more....

Activision just turned 36. What a number that is. Starting in 1979, Activision changed the developer/publisher dynamic in gaming, and soon became one of the biggest forces in the biz. Today, they own some of the most classic IPs here on GOG.com. So happy (belated) birthday, Activision, we totally didn't forget - we're celebrating the occasion with the entire catalog at an all-time high 66% off!

Do you want to be a hero? Set off on your Quest for Glory, an adventure/RPG hybrid full of humor and well-designed gameplay. The quest for glory games will let you grow from just a graduate of the Famous Adventurer’s Correspondence School into a hero of unparalleled skill. And whether you're a fighter, a mage, or a thief - overcoming open-ended challenges has never been quite as fun since.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is a legend. It's one of those games that were only possible in a very particular time of RPG experimentation on a massive scale. Troika's became famous for delivering exceptional vision and gameplay help back by bugs, but a massive community effort to bring titles like Arcanum to its intended glory mean that there's no better time to experience the legend that hasn't since been repeated.

Pharaoh + Cleopatra & Zeus + Poseidon are the definition of addictive. They strike the perfect balance between refined design and relatively simple gameplay that combine into a historical city-builder that you really, seriously, won't be able to put down.

There's more, of course, with Space Quest I+II+III, King's Quest IV+V+VI and over 30 Activision titles at 66% off. Happy Belated Birthday, Activision! The promo will last until Tuesday, October 6, 3:59 AM GMT.

Wasn't Activision behind the Mechwarrior series? It would be nice to get it here.
Gragar has the right idea. Decent discounts, however, for those interested.

Laura Bow please.

benmar: Laura Bow please.
I would love to see them here. These are fantastic games and I'm particularly fond of The Dagger of Amon Ra

On another note, I own all of the games in this promo with the exception of the Zork games. I'm thinking they're worthy of a purchase? I've never played them but reviews always seem positive.

blotunga: Is this indeed the highest discount these games had?
To reiterate what Impaler said, I can say with certainty, looking at my order history, that I got Caesar 3, Zeus+Poseidon, and Pharaoh+Cleopatra for 75% off and Zork Anthology for 70% off. So there's at least those, maybe more...
I feel fairly sure I got a couple of these a few Insomnias ago for less than 66%. In any case, got 'em all, played too few. Thanks GOG. Look forward to Bloodlines. :)

I guess I could look it up...

Happy birthday, old games! I've seen you in these sales way too often.

avatar
Impaler26: Nope, several of those games have been sold for 75% off already IIRC.
I think the news post meant that this is the highest across-the-board discount they've had for the whole Activision catalog at once.

That's what I remembered too. Anyway picked up the stuff from my wishlist. The thing that was bothering me was the announcement stating "all-time high 66% off", though it's probably true for some games.

You ninja you
Can anyone recommend me anything else from:
Quest for Glory
King's Quest Games
Krondor
Spycraft
and from Zork I've only picked up Grand Inquisitor as it looks the most recent one and I'm not sure if I want to be frustrated by the earlier ones :P.

That's possible, but that is one of the more crudely manipulative marketing statements you can make.

It's like running a Witcher series sale and saying that at 50% off it's the all-time highest, just because they've never been grouped together at that high of a discount, even though the first two Witcher games have been as much as 85% off (or free).

Not a fan at all... I'd rather believe (even if it is naively) that it's just a mistake.

I'm not a big fan of activision but they did publish a few decent games. I'll be making a small birthday giveaway on this .... soon...

that'll be nice. but how is bloodlines's compatibility with modern windows OS's or any OS ?it's suppose to be one of the most buggy games ever made?

It even says "entire catalog" right before the "all-time high" bit. I understood what they meant straight away, so I can't agree with you about it being misleading, much less manipulative. Now, if they were throwing that "all-time high discount" line around all over the place (on the front page, in the e-mail, etc.) and not providing that context of "for the entire Activision catalog at once", then I could see where you're coming from (and I haven't gotten the e-mail yet, so the jury's still out on that); but as it stands, this post is the only place I've seen this line used, and I think the context in which the statement was made is quite clear and beyond reproach in this case.
high rated
Activision,

You're sitting on properties that can and will make you more money if they are distributed through GOG.

Your current selection is stagnating. As such, the potential to make more money is decreasing as overall saturation point is reached.

I have no desire to pirate your older games. I want to continue being a customer. But there's nothing left to purchase.

Sincerely,

Someone with money to spend on your products if you'd be willing to bring them here.

I understand what you're saying, but it is still a bit of word games. That the question has come up suggests that it is a little too easy to misconstrue. I still stand by my comparison to a "Witcher series discount at an all-time high of 50%". It may be true, but it's still misleading...
Happy birthday to the old man in gaming.

Was looking at the newer versions of zork but being i am not an adventure fan i may not like it but it does sound tempting.
