A classic omni-cure with prices miniature! 66% off Pharaoh, Arcanum, Quest for Glory 1-5, Phantasmagoria, and more!

They say time heals all ills. And if there's one sure cure for any known ailment, it's got to be time spent gaming. Whether you got the blues (pet hamster expired), the reds (a coworker ate your tuna sandwich) or the greens (coworker instagrammed himself in the act), spend some time with these classic beauties and everything will go away. Especially time. So join us in Activision Therapy with 66% off the price of admission, and emerge a new person!

Bah, they don't build cities like they used to anymore. We definitely got a thing or two to learn from the ancient Pharaohs, aside from pulling off that wicked eye-liner look. And that's how to manage majestic settlements, erect timeless monuments, and maintain a healthy economy based on trading goods.

So you want to be a hero? Perhaps a thief or a mage? The adventure/RPG series that defined and refined the formula of alternative gameplay paths based on your character's skills, puts you on a Quest for Glory across fairytale lands, where whimsical adventures and magical creatures await.

A cursed love story, spanning centuries of death, despair, and brutal exsanguinations. A party-based action/RPG with intense combat and immersive character development. The bloody quest of a fledgling vampire seeking justifiable Redemption. A true cult classic.

This should be all the prescription you need to begin your Activision Therapy. There are over 30 capsules of great fun inside this Weekend Promo, including Call to Power 2, the Zork series, Spycraft: The Great Game, the King's Quest saga, and many more! Just remember to sit down with them at least three times a day after each meal. The promo will last until March 8, 4:59 AM GMT.

tfishell: Would the Windows version even run on a modern computer?

chromeneon: Well this is what GOG does, isn't it, optimizing old games for the new systems. They have done in for quite a few other games so I don't see why they can't do it for this one, especially when visuals are very big part of it.

Splatsch: I own the three, but Casear 3 is so good that I still haven't played the others two ! But from what I know, Pharaoh is supposed to be the best of the 3. They are all very high quality city builders and improved with each game (first was Caesar 3, second Pharaoh, and finally Zeus), I would say : if you can take only one, take the setting (and visuals) you prefer between egyptian and greek :)
avatar
chromeneon: Hmm, meditate on that I will. I have no clear preference between either culture. I might watch some gameplay videos on Youtube to decide which one I like better. What I've read is that each one improves the previous, so that means Zeus should be the most polished one. That sphinx looks so cute though :-D
Older software can be quite unpredicatable though.
There are probably quite a few games that GOG couldn't sell due to bugs/issues on newer systems.
Just pointing out something here:

During the winter sale (IIRC), the entire Interplay catalog could be purchased with a very steep discount (90% I think). EA did the same thing in the beginning in February by putting their entire catalog on sale for 85% off. This of course is just a thought and not backed up with any evidence whatsoever but is it possible Interplay and EA thought "Yup, let's just get what we can for these titles and forget about em" thus not wanting to do anything with GOG anymore?

It's just that by Interplay and EA not releasing any other titles here and giving huge discounts on their entire catalog, it seems to me they're just trying to squeeze these games for all they can before calling it quits.

This is of course just speculation but I wonder if we're going to see a third publisher try this......

chromeneon: Scratch what I wrote about considering Phantasmagorias, just read a review of Phantasmagoria 2 saying GOG released the 256 colors DOS version instead of the 16 bit Windows version. Kinda defeats the purpose for a movie-like game.

Anyway, I too am surprised Activision is still here. I guess they can be bothered to spend a few hours every year re-newing a contract, but creating a new one to let new games come here, or let GOG fix up some of the old games here better.
I thought I read somewhere that people got the original windows version of 2 working on WIN7 64bit, but I cannot find the thread to back that up. The video included with the DOS version is incredibly lousy and an upgrade would be appreciated. I've been hoping for it to be included in ScummVM. However, with how long development on that has been going... it'll probably take a couple of years.

Sure they have done so, but since 90s Windows releases can be notoriously difficult to get them running correctly in modern systems, they have had mixed success with them (see Interstate '76 and the Warhammer series for games that are still problematic here). They would also have even less of a reason to go for that one, as it would cost them time and money that they might not make back (since I doubt they would charge extra to the original owners for it).

Interplay actually released 9 games the previous year here and had plans to release the rest of their Star Trek games. With possible legal problems looming with Parallax, they might have put any further releases on hold.

Yeah, that's the obvious reason for not doing it, which is a shame as I won't be able to try the "pleasure of Cronenbergesque horror" as Risingson called Phantasmagoria 2 (and I'm definitely not gonna try it on 256 colors as I'm pretty sure no pleasure will come out of it).

Now that you mention it I do remember that happening now. My mistake.
Recommended => Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption
And.... the Mac versions of this games?. Many this games had version Mac. I wish have its. Thank
So I settled on Pharaoh - I like the music. That along with Arcanum concludes my order for this weekend promo. Much easier than last week when I made multiple purchases in 3 different days and was struggling up until the last day whether to make another one.

If I like Pharaoh I will get Zeus next time there is Activision promo seeing how you guys expect those to happen regularly :-p

I think you need to get this urge looked at.
Looking at reviews for Betrayal at Krondor, they are saying the game is broken and you can't progress past a certain point. I saw reviews pointing this out ranging from 2010 to 2013. I'm assuming that still hasn't been fixed? Definitely a no buy if that's the case.
