I couldn´t resists posting:
A lot of people writing here against freedom of speech, just write rubbish, sorry no other way of saying it.
All those forums you are relating too are NOT public, they are private.
Remember you can´t shout fire in a theater, if there is no fire.
THAT is exactly what this ruling is about.
Nothing else.......
And as others pointed out, it is keeping in mind the horrible case, where a teen committed suicide because of bad postings/messages and the responsible web side did NOT take action.
And the notion of free speech, for all of you complaining: You never read the user agreement, EULA what so ever??? I assume?
Hate speech is always forbidden, for good reason, it is ONLY, if the company behind does not react. Which funny enough, by normal criminal law in most states you would go behind jail, for knowing about something like this. SO companies are getting of light, despite what a lot of people are claiming.
If you don´t believe read up on hate speech.
for a starter:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hate_speech Forums are not public places. Unlike the speakers´ corner ;)
Just my 2 cents of reasoning ;)
