You are right and I oversimplified the matter for the sake of making an argument that it is the value/importance given to a treaty that gives it precedence and not the time when it was signed. In more technical terms, what you are referring to is known as dualism and you can read more about it here. It differs from country to country and I imagine bigger states such as France and Germany are more on the dualism side, while countries like Belgium are a famous monist example.

MaximumBunny: People usually don't understand this when they use it. The government isn't Big Brother - you are. Everyone is Big Brother as we turn on each other for the sake of laws and fear of being punished by them. So fearful that we become the enforcers and executioners.

Which is why I find it silly when people use it casually to mean "the government is always watching". It only becomes a Big Brother issue when the people accept it which is clearly not the case here. :P
that is true, people butt in on affairs not their own. there is even TV shows about it! and promoting this standard of conduct very anti-liberty. all the "you see something is not right people need to get involved" crap! truly, my view, if you are not in the fight, stay out of it! you DO NOT KNOW who is the guilty you are not in the relationship or spat! and WE ARE BIG BROTHER because of propagandic shows that promote such behavior. like the one hosted by that chinese guy and worst thing of all, it is for KIDS!

Oh my!

It's curious to see how things have been affected since. Adpocolypse, Youtube purge, twitter censoring, facebook censoring, google search censoring, etc. and it's clearly been, mostly, one-sided (which Google admitted). I have an interesting list of facebook posts (including a video of people getting buried alive, but the post intentionally mis-labled the executioners as IDF, another person selling dildos, and so forth), but, you know, those "were not in violation of community standards." But, hey, Diamond and Silk are too racist for facebook, and Mike the Cop, well, let's just say he's had problems with deleted videos as well.
