Can you explain how DownThemAll! works for downloading game installers? If i try it on the Witcher 3 page in my library and opt to install programs (.exe, .msi) all I get downloaded is one file 221 MB big, that I presume is the Galaxy installer that's prominent on the page.

P.S.: the view in my library is modified by Adalia Fundamentals and Barefoot Essentials, I don't know if they hinder the workings of DownThemAll? I have already clicked on not showing GOG Downloader links in my library, so the links should lead to the .exe and .bins of the Witcher, but how do I add them all in one click, like you say it can?

Nice little feature but mainly what kept it a favorite for so long is that it just did perfectly what it was created to do: download your games.

Some people reported trouble running it -loss of browser integration which needed resetting is a strong suspect here- but as somebody who used it without any trouble whatsoever, it was perfect. Yes as some keep reminding us you just can use Galaxy as a downloaded, BUT, and speaking for myself, I don't like it as a downloader simply because it's given me grief with crappy speed -never an issue with the standalone downloader program, and it's not a light program as such because of all the features it carries, and the occasional freeze.

So all you want is download your games via a simple and light program, that GOG downloader was it for quite a fair number of us. Yes you can use your browser/browser add-on but browsers do crash whenever they fell like, it not to mention they can corrupt a download. Personally speaking, never had corruption or crash with the downloader, hence always was my first choice.

It may have been abandoned for some time and so is no spring chicken, but it nevertheless kept going strong in doing its downloading job, which is what matters most and why it's still being used.

Well I really hope this means a Linux build of GOG Galaxy is following this announcement, otherwise I will really start reconsidering buying from GOG.

I think I used only GOG Downloader to download games. I didn't even know I could download using browser. Well, that's not so bad then.

Never used it, always used browser to dl and I reckon that when they find a cure for the virus, there will be a thread against it being cured. And i'll bet that you all panic buy the dunny paper too.

Uh, no? If GOG required a client to download games (which is DRM), you can bet a lot of people would just be on Steam instead since it's vastly superior and also offers DRM-free games.

Truth be told, in addition to not using GOG's Galaxy and downloader, I also don't use GOG's library interface. I download all my games via MaGog, which is immensely simpler and faster, allowing me to download multiple files from multiple games without the need to click on each game so as to open GOG's floating game sub-window.

But, anyhow, I just checked with the GOG library and the principle is the same.

Assuming you have DownThemAll! installed:
- From the GOG library, you click on the game in question (e.g. Witcher 3) and open the floating sub-window
- Ignore the "Download and Install Now" button
- Open the "Download Offline Backup Game Installers" tab if not already open
- Hold mouse button and drag mouse to select files you want (e.g. all installers, all installers and all bonuses, etc.), like you would select text in a word processor
- Right click on the selection and choose "DownThemAll!" -> "Save Selection with DownThemAll!"
- This opens a sub-window that allows you to choose which files to download (e.g. all selected, only exe, only zip, specific file(s), etc.), where to, and much more (the tool has defaults that you can change and customise based on your preferences, so you don't have to change most options anymore, once you have set them to your liking --- I practically never do)
- Once you set what you want, just click Download

Thanks, it was the selection by dragging around that I failed to do at first, I tried clicking the links, but it's more akin to selecting units in an RTS game so to speak.

On other websites you can forego the selection and just right click DownThemAll! -> DownThemAll!. This gives you a list of all the links on the page and you can pick and choose whichever you want via checkboxes. But with GOG, if you do that, you get hundreds of unrelated links (e.g. to chats, to the GOG top bar, etc.), so it's better to select first.

It's been quite some time since I last backed up my games, but I think I used gog downloader, mostly. So it's sad to see it go.

I generally use Galaxy to install and play games, but, as I said, it was rather useful for backing up games easily.

Another step forcing Galaxy client.

I don't see the problem. They are just trying to simplify the process for new users.
