When the first Diablo was released on GOG back in 2019, Blizzard published in the news section small Q & A with one of the questions being - Is Diablo II coming to GOG? While the answer was generic - We have no additional announcements at this time, one cannot help but to wonder why would they put that info in the first place if they haven't planned something all along? I believe we will get it at some point sooner or later.

Cadaver747: Not only that but we also may forget about The Lost Vikings and Blackthorne since they re-released them. I know base versions along with Rock'n'Roll Racing are available for free from their website even if they removed the links from the download page for some reason (The Lost Vikings run in old DOSBox, there is a sync problem and last level have a little issue with artifact instead of the lever).
Have you tried The Lost Vikings in Dosbox Staging? That Dosbox fork is greatly improved over original Dosbox.

(Dosbox Staging Wiki)
I'd buy DRM-free Diablo II and III.

TheBigCore: https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/download?show=classic at the bottom of the page under Classic Games has Diablo 2 and Lost Vikings.
First I would like to thank you for resurrecting me from 2021 slumber.

It was discussed in other thread that Classic Games were removed from anyone outside of North America Region and probably Europe as well, but they still available for download with direct links.

Here it is:

Also see attached of how it looks for me currently if you don't believe me (attached "classicgames.jpg")

"I've tried DOSBox-Staging, and while it has its ups and downs, I haven't specifically tested it with Lost Vikings. Perhaps I'll give it a try one day and report back to you. My main issue with the game is on the last level - the lever at the end looks like a blurred, pixelated mess. This wasn't an issue when the DOS version was originally released. It seems that they offer a slightly worse version combined with an outdated version of DOSBox.

DRM-FREE and offline D3 would be amazing.

As for D2 - there's ways around its retail disc DRM (especially if you got the older disc version), whether you have it from Retail or Blizzard's Website. Namely, see this over on PC Gaming Wiki - https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Diablo_II#Run_game_without_CD

Still would love to see D2 and D3 Complete Editions hit GOG, of course.

Oh - also include D2R too; would love to see that hit GOG.

DoomSooth: If they're making a remastered version, there's no reason not to sell the original here. I'd still buy it.

Cadaver747: Like it was mentioned already original Diablo 2 along with Expansion is available on Battle.net
https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/diablo-ii
https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/diablo-ii-lord-of-destruction
D2 old versions are easy to run on old hardware & software...
...meanwhile D2R is not as easy since it's newer and all, not built around older hardware.

So, yes - always bring ALL versions to a store, IMHO; similar to how Blade Runner: Enhanced also has the old version with it here on GOG. More games should do that, IMHO.

Not everybody has 8gb VRAM RTX 3070's (or newer), 16-32+ GB RAM, modern CPU's like R5 5600H (laptop CPU), and/or modern PC's.

EDIT - Also, I'd love to see Deus Ex HR Old version on GOG here. Sure, new DC Remaster's good, but it ain't perfect and got some performance & stuttering issues...since for some reason they used an older unfixed build of HR to make HR DC with. The old-versions of DXHR just DON'T have these weird performance issues - so that version is easier to run and also more ideal for say running; especially for The Missing Link DLC.

GoG's 15th anniversary is coming up (in October I think) and Legacy Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction might just be one of a few HUGE DRM-free re-releases they're going to drop on the occasion.

It's already DRM-Free and it already runs on modern systems lol

True, however if I were Blizzard I wouldn't have to think twice on the prospect of another guaranteed couple million sold copies.

Are you sure that internet connection is not needed for game activation? (the DRM?)

That's a good point, to be fair it has been installed on the same pc for 15 years lul

Late September is when Skyrim released for the 14th anniversary.

That'd of course be awesome (D2, Warcraft 3, Starcraft - all would be awesome :), but I'm not sure Blizzard is willing to let that potentially cannibalize sales of Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 Resurrected and steal "mind share" from newer Blizzard products, and (as a lesser issue, imo) I'm not sure what the reaction would be if the game is free on Blizzard's store but like $20 on GOG. I think the second point is less of an issue because many people would still buy it for various reasons, but I can imagine some angry reviews about the price; of course I'd totally discourage GOG from letting possible angry reviews/responses about the price to hold back a release. ;)

I think we'll get a very cool release for the 15th anniversary but a Bethesda title strikes me as more realistic. We shall see :)
They're not going to give us Diablo 2, because they want us to buy Diablo 2 Resurrected, instead of the original.

Thing is, people generally seem to really like D2R and I'd even say it's preferred version for majority today. So I don't see conflict of interests here. Warcraft 3 Reforged on the other hand...

You mean other than "Requires Battle.net DRM and monthly online verification when playing offline characters. Online characters require a constant internet connection" on a DRM-Free website?
