Not sure why people thought it would anyway? The game still runs perfectly fine on windows 10, still active online. There was no gain what so ever fro Blizzard to bring it here?

Although companies are throwing that "remaster" tag around rather generously recently, so who knows what's what nowadays.

That is so dumb considering you can still get the disk version of Diablo 2 for lie $7-$20. I've got the French and the American versions. Would be fantastic to have a gog version for less asspain/disk scratching issues.

That being said, Diablo 2 Resurrected will not be replacing the original (it will still be available unlike Warcraft 3) so there's that at least.

Wondering if if requires Battle.net or you can just play them offline. I frequently jump between Diablo 2 versions when I do play it from time to time, which I assume wouldn't be possible if this is a Battle.net-ed download.

Although there is no limit to how many computers the game can be installed to, only one computer can be logged in to Battle.net with a given CD key at a time.
So it sounds like you need to be online at launch, at the very least.

Nope. You can download the installer, but you need a CD key if you actually want to install it. Except the CD key won't work, you need a different key. You can get that by having a Battle.net account, going to your account page and doing "redeem a code", which converts the CD key to one the installer can use.

Also nope. You need to be online to convert the CD key and download the installer (technically, you download a mini installer which downloads the actual installer, because hey why not), but after that it installs and launches with no internet.
idbeholdME: Thanks. So it just adds the game to your Battle.net account. Meaning you will probably be stuck with the 1.14d version for good. I'll stick with my CDs. No, it's 1.14b, and it's an offline installer; you don't need Battle.net. There's an option in the game to use Battle.net, but you can play LAN or solo if you want. Presumably if you try to log into Battle.net in-game, it forces you to upgrade like Warcraft 3 did, except not quite as bad since as I recall Warcraft 3 tried to replace itself with Reforged if you went through Battle.net. So just don't click on that button and you're fine.
Love how everyone just leapt to (wrong) conclusions without even bothering to try. :) Also, while the installer downloader is an .exe, if you run that in Wine, the actual installer you get contains both Mac and Windows versions. Works fine, though it's 32-bit so that's a no-go on anything after macOS 14.6. Turns out the Mac installer downloaders are here so you don't need Wine.
They're not actually free though.

And yeah, that means they're not actually free as you still need a valid CD key.
I assume it's the same for WC3 and Frozen Throne?
Still going to use my CD versions, but having a separate installer never hurts.

Starcraft 1 actually is available for free, and has been since 2017, but they don't make it easy to find these days. They've hidden it away under the Starcraft Remastered label, and unlike the other free games, you need to use Battle.net to run this one. One way to get the game is to go here, scroll down to the Features section, and click "Play for Free" to get the installer.
https://starcraft.com/en-us/
Unfortunately, as a way of encouraging sales for Remastered, only Remastered players get to participate in the ladder.
Obviously I'd rather have it on GOG, or even just untethered from Battle.net, but it's not the worst deal around if you already have Battle.net and don't have the original CDs.
If you're willing to install Battle.net, I suppose it's worth noting that Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is also free these days.

Still going to use my CD versions, but having a separate installer never hurts. Unfortunately not, it seems that even though Diablo II's installers just need CD keys, Warcraft III's will install Battle.net, like Starcraft, and then will start downloading a 26GB file that I assume is Reforged. Maybe you have to download Reforged to play in classic mode, even if though you don't technically own Reforged and can't play the new version? Starcraft was also oversized at 6GB, so the situation might be similar. Wild.
I have Warcraft 3 CD keys on my account, but that just might be a relic of the original games. I saw an old Blizzard thread that was equally confused.

Reforged is only Warcraft 3 version on Battle.net, and all registered classic versions were forcefully upgraded to it. Only way to play pure classic is to download from elsewhere or got disc version and not register online.
