Spam war. Spam war never changes.
In 2013 the storm of spam war had come again. In two brief hours most of the forum was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of spam devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.

how come new accounts aren't automatically blocked after the first 1-2 spam reports? is that too much of a PITA to code into the forum software?

Last time I reported couple spammers spamming on Wishlist using the support feature, Natalia
from GOG.com Support simply wiped the accounts and all their posts from face of the earth. Dunno why they've not done the same now.
Because it would be abused. There are already people with multiple accounts wrecking the rep system. Imagine someone using same trick with report spam function if what you propose would be introduced.

God, these bots are persistent! At least Dragonsphere subforum is clear now.

Imagine the time and effort wasted looking for posts made by specific person and downrepping them from each account until posts gets low rated. :-p Apparently some people don't have anything better to do with their lives.
