Warning: probably wall of text, if only to provide the necessary background information. Will try to keep it as short as possible.

I got annoyed with the inclusion of Amazon script on GOG site. Already made a thread discussing that part, so won't litter around here. In short, I was hoping GOG would assist me in getting access to my games without having to allow Amazon's script to run. As it is right now, unless you enable access from cloudfront.net to your computer, the login button won't even appear (nor will any images on the site, either).

On 5/16 I opened a support ticket (P9WDTGVQ) describing the situation and my issue with it. To GOG's credit, the first response was fast in coming. On 5/17 (or basically the next working day in GOG's time zone) I received the following reply (emphasis mine):

"Hello,

Cloudfront is a content delivery network used by one of our performance monitoring tools. It is used globally on our website to help pinpoint issues.
However, it shouldn't influence your ability to log in to your account or browse the website. Our web team have been notified and they are looking into this issue.
If you have any more questions, please let me know.

GOG.com Support"

Since then... nothing. I sent a follow-up e-mail (basically a "can I expect any change or help with this?") on 5/24. I sent another one on 5/26.

When that resulted in no response whatsoever, I opened another ticket on 5/27 (ticket no. PEL8GVP6). On 5/30, I sent yet another e-mail asking about the status of my request.

Nothing. Not a word aside from the automated confirmation of opening the ticket.

It's been two weeks since I became unable to access my account (and all the games in it) without letting Amazon in (do not want, thank you).

Not a "hold on, we're working on this." Not a "not going to promise anything, but give us a few to see." Hell, not even a "screw you, we got your money."

This isn't about Amazon at this point. It's about communication. Receiving this kind of a silent treatment from a company I have been vocally supporting in all the circles I attend when it was just starting to make it in the distro business is not pleasant.

Edit: The offensive script was removed on 6/6/16 and site access is no longer reliant on third-party scripts.

GOG does listen :)

They're probably still working on it, or simply haven't gotten a chance to look into it due to being busy with more important things.
Blocking cloudfront does indeed seem to break account access.

No reason that it should, it's simply the opbeat performance script.

I'm sure they're looking into it, but it's probably not very high priority. It's not like it's a malicious script.
I agree that it's frustrating when the support stops replying, but.. you spammed them for a minor thing overall.
You cannot expect news about a website fix in 10-15 days!

Knowing Gog, then, if it will ever happen, it will take months.

Look, however you feel about Amazon, for me the introduction of its script to GOG site is a problem. When I was buying all the games for the $1377.6 I spent on GOG (exact, unless I messed up my accounting - I also rarely buy new titles, so.. that's a lot of games) , Amazon wasn't there.

Do I expect GOG to fix the login issue? Well, in an ideal world, absolutely. In our realistic one? Live and see.

But I do expect to at least be provided the courtesy of a reply - especially when I repeatedly request clarification on the issue.

Trust me, I have far more constructive and pleasant ways of spending my time than filing out support requests, writing e-mails, or posting on the forum (as you may notice by my... indifferent... participation here).

I'm obviously not happy. Being stonewalled like that is not improving my mood, either. All the more so when I think about all those occasions I loudly advocated GOG as the best place to purchase games from because it was a customer-oriented company.

Edit: And if you feel a particular need to needle me about the whole Amazon thing (or just to understand my position), feel free to drop "tinfoil hatter" references here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/would_you_kindly_stop_with_this_datamining_crap

GOG can sometimes be frustratingly silent when it comes to returning responses after the original ticket. This has been complained about a number of times before. I don't think it means they're ignoring you or stonewalling though. They're likely still looking into the issue you raised and haven't gotten around to answering your further queries. You've been around the site for a while, so you probably know that anyway.

One other thing, it seems that if you send in a second ticket after the first, it goes to the bottom of the queue, so that second one you did may just be buried beneath others.

No, this misinformation was debunked a long time ago by one of the more senior blues (probably Firek, maybe Destro, possibly someone else...); they can also sort support e-mails by several criteria. (Don't have a link to the source, unfortunately, but I'm sure one of the forum's omnipresent fact pushers will be able to supply you....)

The silent treatment is an effective tool in PR when one doesn't really have an answer to give, not sure why it works better than admitting they don't know anything but I suppose PR in business is different than in politics. Either way, you are not going to get them to talk to something that is counter-productive to their business. Have you tried PMing a moderator?

Your sentence "it's not even about Amazon anymore" reminds me of those crusaders who in the end, like everybody else, wants money to cover the damage of some injustice and in their crusade, they lose perspective and end up saying "it's not even about money anymore!!".

I think your best solution is to use some privacy tools to hide from that script in case it bothers as it's not likely to go away.
