This is probably to get people hyped for Wasteland 3 so a remaster of 1 is a very cool idea and a game I will check out when it arrives on GoG.

I hope that "Combat Shooting" will be implemented as a skill that has a use and we will once again hear the same great soundtrack Mr Montgomery created for the older re-release.

Still my favorite RPG of all time.

I wonder if I'll still be able to tape down the "Esc" key in the deep desert overnight to grind up infinite XP?

I would actually take that one powerful robot NPC from the final dungeon, and would clone it there. The NPC was called VAX, and I would name its clone PDP-11. (For those not familiar with computer history, the VAX and PDP-11 are minicomputers from the 1970s.)

By the way, cloned NPCs still have their AI and will still not fully obey you.

Carradice: As mentioned above. Yes, it is the graphics, but also interfaces, sometimes.

DubConqueror: Yes, interface too. Plus a bonus of modern games is you get to learn them by playing. I only have fun reading the manual beforehand if it's a paper manual that I can take to bed with me, to read before I get to sleep with the trepidation of going to play the game the next day, but digital manuals don't give me that same feeling of snuggling between the sheets with the forethought of playing the next day. And I just find it easier to absorb information if it's printed rather than on a screen. I don't miss the disk-checks at all, that was an annoying kind of DRM, but I do miss the paper manuals games had when I started gaming in the mid-zeroes.
What about hte paragraph book, and in particular the fake paragraphs? (There's even a bunch of fake paragraphs that tell a rather interesting story.)

I've never played the original Wasteland, like I said, I'm too put off by such old graphics, so I don't know the paragraph book.

darktjm: Ah, so no Linux native version again.
Remember, inXile® is no more. Now it is Microsoft®. No wonder we can say **** *** (good bye :) ) to the franchise. Not a great loss, really. W2 is/was a bad game (a static fake world riddled with fake "choices", and infested with absurd unavoidable "tearjerker moments"; made even worse in DC version). And from there on… things did not go better.

* Occasionally, the game would display a message like "Read paragraph 5". In the back of the game's manual, you would find a bunch of numbered paragraphs, and at this point, you are meant to find the paragraph numbered 5, read it, and then go back to the game.
* The paragraphs contain things like descriptions of the area, descriptions of the results of your actions, and even occasionally passwords that you need to progress.
* To discourage people from just reading the paragraphs, there are fake paragraphs thrown in. Some of them even have passwords that work, but which have side effects like diseasing your entire party.
* There's even a whole plot found in fake paragraphs that is not actually part of the game.

I care less about remastered graphics, and more about UI updating, even speaking as someone old enough for the original's release and still enjoys Sierra AGI games. There's just some things that are more convenient, and modern UIs are one of them.

Instabuy for me.

I was holding to buy W2 to get 30th anniversary edition bundle with W1 remaster - but I was corrupted by GOG when they gave away W2 free copies. So now I'll just pick standalone W1 remaster.

That was mostly an anti-piracy sytem, wasn't it? Some RPG games of that era used it. The Lord of the Rings also featured that. In some cases, you could not finish the game without the paragraph book. In other cases (like in Lord of the Rings) you could, but you missed a good portion of the tale.

Kind of, although in some cases it also was a trick to save memory.
