exiled_user: I was asking if that happens when you have gifts only it could easily happen when you pay for them and lose them afterwards.

micktiegs_8: Well then no, accounts do not get deleted after legitimate purchases.
Im a retail buyer personally, don't like the digital idea at all since accounts can be lost or worse as JMich said hijacked. Maybe GOG will go retail in the future ?

I find it a little hard to believe that GOG would ever just terminate legitimate accounts, unless they have a very good reason for doing so. Even an account with nothing but gifted games on it, is still a potential future customer, aside from other benefits to GOG.

... What's with the fishy smell in this thread?

15. TERMINATION

If you seriously breach this Agreement you may lose access to GOG.com (temporarily or permanently). In the very unlikely situation that we have to stop running GOG.com we'll do our best to give you advance notice, so that you can download and safely store all your DRMfree content.

15.1 We may cancel or suspend your access to GOG services and GOG content if you materially breach this Agreement. We'll try reasonably to contact you to explain why we've done this and what (if anything) you can do as a result. It seems very unlikely, but if we have to stop providing access to GOG services and GOG content permanently (not because of any breach by you), we will try to give you at least sixty (60) days advance notice by posting a note on www.gog.com and sending an email to every registered users – during that time you should be able to download any GOG content you purchased.

6.2 If we cease providing GOG services or GOG content, or if your use of them is cancelled or suspended because of your breach, then we will not have any future obligations to you – including to offer refunds or payments.

If your account has been deleted then you need to contact support.ASAP. They should have contacted you before deletion, and should have 30 days worth of back up to protect your account. A bit of luck as you wont get any response from them until Monday at the earliest. You may also require the confirmation email that the games were activated.

There is one problem. If your account only has games that have been gifted and it turns out the other person(s) was using stolen / fraudulent cards then they may have been forced to remove those games as stolen property. People have lost games in the past because the code used to activate them is later deactivated as it was bought fraudulently.
This is not the case. I don't know were my friends got the codes, but they were not bought fraudulently or with stolen credit cards.
What was the name of the terminated account?

Noone said your friends were the ones using the stolen cards.
The usual case is that person A buys a game with a stolen CC, then sells the gift code on a site (ebay, G2A, kinguin etc). Person B (your friend) buys the key from said site, then either redeems it or passes it over to person C. The code is later removed.

Seems like GOG does not like this !
Bullshit. I've had a secondary account to redeem extra useless gifts on (from bundles and such) for three years now. Nothing happened to it.

Don't throw mud on G2A is a legit site if you buy from them, not from their sellers.
On ebay i have to agree, Kinguin i don't know about it.

Someone want to toss up links to all the people who have been screwed from acquiring G2A codes? :P

Just remember, there is a limit to the size of a post so you may only be able to get a few of them in. XD

Seems like GOG does not like this ! Be careful everyone.

I have reinstall my OS and made a backup of my saves.
I wanted to continue my playthrough just to find out my account has been DELETED.

I had a good library from gifts i received.
How secure is this site ? regarding accounts when you pay for games and after you can LOSE all of them just like that.
I agree with another poster that said - this smells fishy.

The reasonable person would have gone through the 'contact support and work with them' FIRST before coming and loudly complaining on the forum.

It does not appear you are following the reasonable approach - hence - it smells fishy.

Withholding judgement..

I would, but I was about to prepare myself some popcorn instead.
I want to cut this poor guy some slack but between his love for G2A and his refusal to tell us what the games were (someone needs to explain this to me :P) this is starting to smell a little funny.

Ninjad by Martek. He's been on his game today, Must have had his Wheaties!
