Strawman would if he refuted a claim that he himself constructed, while implying that the claim was made by his opponent. No, this is just a simple ridicule - an silly exaggeration used to indicate disdain for some particular thing.

jesus christ, there's a point where the tiring discussion about DRM reaches the point of insanity, and some of you here have clearly passed that point...
(Take a look at the thread's date.)

That makes sense. I was thinking with how he portrayed the argument as people not wanting to go online to download things from the internet that he was making a strawman as no one claims that, but yeah he never refuted it.

How weird! I was coming here to make a post asking about other Digital Distributors and DRM. I have been perusing other site and have found games that I wanted but I didn't know what DRM Free means on those other sites. I have been spoiled by GOG into the idea that I could download a game with no strings attached. But I figured that this question would have already come up but I would have to necro a 2 year old thread to find it.

So wait, what is the issue? Is the OP complaining about having to download the initial installer, or is said installer, while unpacking and installing, requiring an internet connection? If it's the latter, I feel his pain, and that is in fact DRM.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would complain about having to be online to download something.

The activation never pops up again and, unlike Steam, where half the games you play now require you to BE online while Steam records how many hours you play and then sells this information to gaming companies, I'll pick GamersGate any day of the week.
I've bought over 50 games from GG -- never had a problem with any of them.
And btw, their downloader is fast, doesn't take over half your hard drive like that of Steam, and you delete it as soon as you're finished downloading.
